As has been covered on here numerous times the fund is closing at the end of this year and has been steadily selling the holding.

But why is the seller selling?
Have they done deep DD and concluded company will continue making losses? Possibly in line with the brokers research.
or if a Fund, coy no longer meets investment criteria? So they a a forced seller.
or if Private investors just salvaging what they can before coy could be taken private.
If taken private look as the costs that could be saved.
or some other unknown (reason)??

Interesting article in the Mail today about the demise & poor performance of the UK stock market - with interview with Richard Buxton veteran fund manager He pointed to some industries he believes will be big growth areas in the UK, including those related to the energy transition, as well as IT, healthcare and life sciencesLet's hope Getech can be one of them in the energy transition sector

The key message is that investors need to fully understand what the business does and its strategy going forwards. The engagement with shareholders is important and presentations help potential investors decide whether they like the management and the business they are running.

Investors should always DYOR and not invest if they have any doubts or feel the strategy has changed. I know very little about Getech but I can see strategy and senior management have been changing. Lots of shareholders have sold or given up/lost trust and this BB is evidence of that.

Mello is offering a platform to allow investors to question management and hopefully get a clearer picture.

To be fair, judging the success of a roadshow depends entirely on who you are and your history with your investment. For new investors, they might happen to buy at the bottom after a roadshow - but maybe thats because businesses that are thriving with increasing share prices don’t tend to have roadshows - although I have no stats to prove that.

I thought the idea of investing was to make money from an increasingly valuable business and increasing share price.

Having a knowledge of a business is of course valuable, but not necessarily dependent on roadshows. My own view is that having a chat to nice people and seeing professional presentations is likely to give you a false positive judgement on a company’s prospects.

Cherry-picking success stories that also had roadshows - I’m afraid that opens up the obvious question about overall statistics to include all the failures and also-rans, that also had roadshows.

Venn diagrams rule OK.

Plus looking at the share price performance previously and subsequently.

Sorry but I’m a scientist.

The only information I have had from a business that really made a difference was because I knew the CEO. Lets not pretend that is unusual. It wasn’t RNSable, but it was knowing the company’s future plans, presented in a non-powerpoint, not-meant-to-impress way. Plus it included a whole pile of negative possibilities.

Pugugly...Shareholders are given a free code to watch their company and others present. We are putting on a show with keynote speakers and panel sessions plus educational content. If it was a one off company webinar it would cost very little to produce? We have hundreds of annual pass holders so we must be providing good content and you are welcome to try the September results show if you are a shareholder in any of the eight companies....there are some very interesting regular Mello ones that have performed well such as Warpaint and Galliford Try on that show.

davidosh-
1. Roadshows are usually no charge to potential investors - If a company is looking to burnish its credentials or looking for funds why should investors/or potential investors pay. No participant charge from IMC.

2. You have a personal email following up a detailed point.

Thanks Battlebus, I was just going to post the same. TBH I am fed up with the repeated ill- informed nonsense on here. In the presentation a couple of months ago they said no placing and it was a point that was repeated to me by the CEO literally 3 weeks ago when I spoke to him. Absolutely no need for a placing with a very healthy cash position.

Yump.. Why are you so against company management meeting or presenting their strategy to investors? It is important that shareholders and potential shareholders fully understand the direction of the company and this BB suggests many of you do not know exactly what is going on within the company!

I can tell you about tens of small unknown or unloved companies that built a long term relationship with appropriate long term investors via Mello and we have an excellent reputation for providing access to serious engaged investors....not traders or short term ones.

I will simply mention Judges Scientific JDG who first came to Mello in 2008 when the share price was £1.68. David Cicurel the CEO explained his strategy in detail and requested that he could return after each set of results to answer questions and talk investors through the acquisitions made. He kept to his word and still comes to Mello in 2023 even though the company is no longer a small cap and has 100 bagged for the investors who followed the strategy at the start and gained for others every year.

That is top quality management and engagement.

Pugugly....Why do you state Mello is wrong and expensive? There is no venue as it is virtual with eight companies involved so a very wide audience and it actually costs a quarter of the IMC charge so very good value if wanting a single presentation like this. Mello also does physical conferences that are very popular but the next one is not until late November. We have virtual shows every fortnight but five in September as companies want to try and improve general sentiment and engage with investors

yump: Excellent summary - You have put it far better than I have been doing -

Your point "Hopefully they are not tied into anything with the Scottish gov (inverness) that commits GTC to more spend." is especially pertinent given the unexplained rapid departure of Cooley.

As for a Mello presentation (imo) wrong and expensive venue - Would have preferred IMC. I suspect you may be right about a possible fund raise.
