The recent budget talks with the Iraqi federal government regarding the unpaid salaries of the Kurdistan Region’s civil servants were “positive̶1;
- the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said on Wednesday after a delegation returned to Erbil from Baghdad.

“What was on the Kurdistan Region as its obligations has been fulfilled,” the statement added, emphasizing the KRG’s position that it is Baghdad’s duty to send the salaries for the Region’s civil servants.

Edited due to new information ......

Not long until the trading & operations update on 24th January & (not the 16th January as listed elsewhere).

That should give us an indication as to what January's net income is going to be, but more importantly the cash in the bank at year end, how many bonds are still outstanding & if there going to try & redeem them early given the bank balance is on the increase again.

As well as the start date for the arbitration court case which should be just 4 or 5 weeks from now.

Jefferies seem to have downgraded a slew of oilcos today, it's not Genel specific.

Presumably related to their view on the oil price?

I've bought 2 trading parcels (each of 10,000 shares) in the last 30 mins & neither has shown up on the LSE trade list.

I wonder what there trying to hide ?

Maybe trying to stop the bots kicking into action!

KRG has a history of fighting hopeless court cases. Look at judgement in the Dana case. In an excoriating ruling the court found that the reason KRG had reneged on the contract was solely because they hadn’t been offered sufficient bribes.
But as for Somaliland. It’s politically unstable. I can’t see it ever coming to anything.

The court case is uncertain. Genel is confident they can win but why have KRG terminated the contract- they must have a good case as well then.Genel is investing in Somaliland

Wow that kicked off in a hurry !!!

They are clearly short of stock at the moment given the premium they are happy to give you for 10K (was offered 78.3p at one point now 78.13p) when price 77.8p

I don't have enough free funds to see what the offer price is like & if they want a premium to the quoted price for 10K or such like.

Maybe we will see over 80p today after all.

Hi arab3,

To be honest I'm not the best person to ask when it comes to research on both companies.

Genel's field only has about 7 years production left, whereas GKP's has a lot longer life & more potential reserves wise. although Genel's oil is better quality.

Genel have a court case that is due to be heard in London in Feb if they win that the award could be multiple times the current share price given the $1.5B that was spent on the 2 fields in question.

GKP has bigger production net to the company than Genel & so has higher revenue & can in good times pay out much more money in dividends or share buy-backs.

Genel directors have much more cash invested in the company than the GKP ones do.

Hopefully other's will chip in with better answers than mine.

Hasn't been looking good at all this morning ( from literally the first minute)

Not even when GKP were trading around 132 - 133.

Given the price paid for that 2nd lot of 25K I decided to follow it with 7.5K to see if that helps turn things around for later in the day.

Certainly looks like GKP wants to push higher so hopefully Genel follows suit.

Will punch through 80p tomorrow, this alongside Gkp could double quite easily with pipeline news
