This is very leveraged on the oil price (despite not producing much!). The Turkish pipeline is unlikely to open in the short term as the Kurdish production would take Iraq over their current quota. This wouldn’t be an issue if Brent were charging towards 100 dollars a barrel. Instead Brent is fighting to stay at 80, and Saudi are asking OPEC nations to make cuts. I’m going to be on the sidelines watching for signs of an oil market rebound.

chartwise it seems it will work it's way back slowly to 90 area . I do not follow the fundamentals but seem to recall that the company was not formed by people of great character but I may b wrong ( called cowboys in OZ :) )

Well that was an interesting close !

Auction well over the offer price again !

I guess a couple of people didn't want to be out of the stock over the weekend ....

Even managed to out perform GKP at the very end of the day.

I'm still thinking Iraq and all other OPEC countries will not be able to increase production. Going to be hard choices for all members, cheat and they'll get $20 a barrel less so possibly gives Iraq problem to restart production anytime soon?

It's just the new trading range for me 70s to 90s. Unless we go before 70 then I might get concerned.. but I'll buy loads in the 50/60... don't think we will get that unless a wider war breaks out

Hi Kris Akabusi,

Yes that 300,000 was a big surprise for the closing auction & below the bid price as well.

However when thinking about it, it might help explain the very strange trading that's been going on for several days now.

I'm guessing someone got in trouble with a T trade or held a lot on leverage after those directors buy's 5 weeks ago ( or the run up a week ago)

If the MM's sensed or knew this, then that would explain why they kept trying to force the price down - knowing this person was going to have to bail out on the cheap & they would get the cheap stock to more than cover any buys on the way down. A total win win scenario for them.

So lets see what tomorrow brings & whether there's still more cheap stock to come or if its all done now & things go back to normal.

OPEC meeting delay should be a good thing for us.

The minister & other high ranking officials who were meant to be attending it will now have a large free space in there diaries for this weekend!

Hopefully the PM has turned round & told them to get on with resolving the pipeline issue with that time instead......

Hi MPStb,

You're absolutely right the fall here has been over done.

Buy & sell volume are currently pretty well matched for the day ( & this is by far our 2nd worst day on that metric in 13 trading days ( 11 major positives & 1 negative one)

There is still the closing auction to come ..........

I don't think the director purchases have affected the numbers really those purchases were 5 weeks ago now.

Someone's playing games with this big time now, I just hope they get there fingers badly burned with it........

Fair enough, but as a broad brush analysis over the past month GKP are up 8%, but down 6% in the past week.

Genel on the other hand are down 12% over the same month and down 9% in the past week.

Its a big difference and to my simplistic mind at least, suggests the fall here has been overdone. I know the director purchases skew things here though.

Don't compare with GKP. We are always 2 steps ahead when we fall and 2 steps behind during rises.

More of the same today. GKP has held around half of its gains from the talks about talks in the weekend before last, while Genel has lost it all and more besides. Go figure.

Well at this level its pretty close to the 52 week low of 74.4p yet its got here with there being a shortage of stock which is a really bizarre combination !

I see the usual story applies again this morning Genel underperforming GKP yet again by 1% currently. Buy volume more than sell volume (GKP way more sells than buy's)

Maybe we nee way more sell volume than buy volume to get the share price up!

The divergence between Genel & GKP is stark.

Virtually everyday Genel's buy volume outweigh's the sell volume significantly & the closing auction happens close to or above the offer price.

GKP on the other hand has more sales volume than buy volume & the closing auction occurs at or below the bid price.

This has been going on for the last 2 weeks really & yet somehow GKP's share price is out performing Genel's over that period now!

Something has to change soon.

I do think OPEC+ will cut production considerably.

There is also sanctions enforcement on Russia / Iran to add in to the mix & the fact that ships are starting to be attacked in the Middle East (not oil tankers yet) & the growing signs of this awful conflict spreading.

Meaning a highly volatile situation is going to be with us for some time.

Getting oil transported to a point in the opposite direction of all this might be very useful
