energy consumption and GDP growth are almost perfectly correlated - where are the easy reserves - uranium imho

nice chart showing potential of the nuclear

PS - looking on it my take:

people were (are) running out of the "online" direct sustainable sun conversion energy - biofuels.- logs and straw mainly

and they started to dig for the stored energy in the earth crust which has its limits (there is an ever increasing price to it)

we might be forced to get back to "online direct sun energy conversion" with new tech employed as the graph probably can not increase for ever.

and there a mix ca be played - coal and uranium Will be increasing probably in % terms in the mix

My broker tells me that I am not eligible for subscription shares as I sold my GCL shares on Thursday 14th. I thought if I held at 5pm on the 13th I would be eligible. Have I misunderstood? Thanks

@kenmitch Sweet. Much appreciated, thank you. A good plan also.

ronconomics.

You can buy and sell GCS whenever you like exactly the same as with any share. Nothing is taken
from your sale proceeds other than normal dealing charge.

I never exercise a warrant or sub share except sometimes at final expiry date. And yes then you do have to find extra cash. But even at final expiry date you don't have to exercise. You can either sell your GCS ahead of final expiry date or just let them lapse. If you let them lapse a trustee is appointed to exercise all lapsed sub shares and the proceeds will then appear in your account.

If you just own your free subs best bet is to hold on to them and hope they become worth a lot more.

e.g if share can go to 50p then GCS worth around 20p and over 5 times more than current price. 60p share price and GCS is worth at least 30p etc.

Worst case scenario is share doing nothing for another 3 years and ending up lower than final exercise price. Then unless you sell them in time your sub shares will end up worthless.

Best bet if bullish on uranium prospects is to buy a few more now in case share rises from here and never drops again. I'm hoping also to buy some more lower than current 4.5p if share price dips for a while.

If you sell at a later date for a profit is the exercise price taken from the sales proceeds or do you have to put up the additional cash ?

Current spread is very wide 2p to sell and 4.5p to buy. All buys have been at full 4.5p so far, but sells seem to be around 3.2p.

I'm puzzled by the GCS price. It shows as 2p buy price yet they were allocated not brought. Just out of surgery/hospital so am probably missing the obvious in my current fuzzy state. Can anyone explain.

Some general points. Subscription share spreads are often wide, but then sometimes narrow a lot even when very few or even no trades, and then widen again. Also it is often possible to trade well inside the spread. e.g GCS buys today were at 4.5p but several trades at over 3p that were probably sells. Yet spread was 2p - 4.5p.

4.5p is above fair value for GCS.... but will look very good if share goes to 50p+.

Note that subscription shares and warrants are often incredible value.

e.g GRESHAM HOUSE WARRANTS spread is 75-80p (spread is often much wider) and with share at 407p to sell and exercise price of 323.27p/expiry 31st Dec 2019 is worth 83p. So not only is there NOTHING extra to pay for time value, but GHEW is actually at a discount and could be bought for 79p today.

e.g UTILICO EMERGING MARKETS SUBSCRIPTION SHARES. Exercise price is 183p (but expiry very close at Feb 28th 2018). Share is 216p to sell, so UEMS worth 33p. UEMS spread is 27.5p - 31p but there were buys today at 29.1p. So again inside the spread and again sub share is at a discount and nothing to pay for time value.

e.g GROUND RENTS INCOME WARRANTS. Exercise price is £1 and expiry Aug 2022. Share is 118p to sell and GRIW buys today at 18.58p. So again a bargain. Also share and GRIW have fallen heavily on recent Ground Rents scandal and Government enquiry but GRI claim most does not apply to them. So another at a bargain price.

FIDELITY ASIAN VALUES SUBSCRIPTION SHARE SPREAD is very wide at 16.5p -25p BUT there were trades today well inside that spread at 19.8p. Like GCS FAS has a higher final exercise price of 382p/Nov 2019 and FASS is worth just 7p with the rest time value, So like GCS not as cheap as the 3 above.

Some of us had great fun with the previous Geiger Counter Subscription shares. Can't see the new ones doing as well but even so they look a good longer term lockaway and better still if the share and sub prices fall short term.

Thanks solonic... nice to be appreciated. ;-))

And thanks also, QP.. I was trying to keep things simple - for my own benefit, but you've added a new level of complexity in a way that makes it easy to understand... Do you expect the spread to narrow if the subs start become more actively traded?

Thanks Steve. Very tactful! You clearly know perfectly what you're talking about but you express the whole thing the form of a question. There are many less knowledgeable posters on this thread who could learn from you. (But they won't!)

P.S. To be fair, as has been noted by another poster, nearly all recent contributors have been exemplary. Long may it last.

Let me ask if I understand this correctly...

Each GCS entitles me to buy one regular share in (approximately) 1, 2, or 3 years time, at a price of 24.98, 26.17, & 28.55 resp.

Since the bid price (to buy) GCL now is 25.50, the Subs share is effectively worthless...

BUT if the GCL bid price were to increase to say 30p (at the first anniversary date), the subs share would have a value of around 5p, so by buying the subs now at 4.5p, there would be a small 0.5p "profit".

Thereafter for every 1p rise in the GCL, you might expect a similar 1p rise in the GCS.
Clearly, a 1p rise in GCS represents almost a 25% gain...
...and a 10p rise in GCL (c. 40% from here) could lead to a 200% gain in the Subs..

Seems a pretty good upside... although I suppose the downside that it could quickly fall to zero.. It's a pity the spread is so wide for the GCS.

Also a trade at 4.5p recorded as a buy, but it’s more likely to be a sell. (I’ve often had sub share buys well inside spread recorded as sells and vice-versa). Spread is 2p to 6p. Though 6p buy price means GCS is overvalued, if bullish on prospects for GCL it could prove to be worth paying it! I’d like to see share price and GCS dip for a bit, and then a real uranium rally.

Subs vote passed.

Following the extraordinary general meeting of the Company in connection
with the proposed bonus issue of Subscription Shares, which was held
earlier today, the Company announces that the special resolution put to
Shareholders (the "Resolution") was passed on a show of hands. Proxy
votes in favour of the Resolution were 100 per cent. of the votes cast
at the EGM.

They have issued an ens for nav early, so not sure if that’s the figure they will use, I thought it was the nav at cop today.

Dyor etc.....

Some say the whole crypto currency thing is going to need double the world's electricity in very few years. I mean double! Electric vehicles notwithstanding and growth of middle classes in the developing world maybe vanadium flow battery storage can transform the contribution of renewables to a massive extent in time...but where is the base load coming from ?
