This looks like a cracking good buy: forward p/e of 11, divi 4.5% and a potential bidder stakebuilding. Think I might buy some more.

Hi

Where did you see this? I can find nothing about a possible bid.

Dobbies bid approach confirmed today. Tom Hunter and his merry men will almost certainly be the bidder and who is Flying Brands' biggest shareholder? We're next in line at 350ish is my guess.

Nimzzz - Yes, certainly agree with you re:accumulation. Always find it encouraging when positive things are happening locally i.e. if anyone knows how things are going for Flying Brands over in Jersey, it must surely be people like David Kirch who are based over there.

Good luck with your investment if you decide to join us.

Thanks for the info. VKX, would appear that the consensus is bullish.

Tend to agree with Nirvs that the major downtrend has turned. Looking at Channel Hotels and Properties Limited's past 5 transactions since last Oct 2006, all have been purchases of stock.

IMHO there is accumulation occurring now in anticipation of a move in the 'right' direction. I hold no position yet but will be looking to enter in the imminent short term.

nimzzz - Check out "Investor Info" at www.flyingbrands.com. If you then click on "Broker Forecasts" it gives you forecasts for 2007 & 2008. Couldn't immediately see who the house broker is for Flying Brands. Anyone know off the top of their heads without me digging deeper?

I also checked on Barclays Stockbrokers (which is who I use to trade shares) but there's only a Daniel Stewart target from 18/09/2006 which was 320p (from 270p). Couldn't find any indication as to what the timeframe was for that forecast though. Checkout your own broker and see what they suggest.

Hope this helps, VKX

Looks like David Kirch has been buying again - nearly 10% of the company now:

"Flying Brands Limited (the 'Company') received notification on 23 April 2007
that Channel Hotels and Properties Limited has a notifiable interest of
2,410,000 Units (comprising ordinary shares of one pence each and 'A' ordinary
shares of 0.005 pence each), being 9.5 per cent of the issued ordinary share
capital of the Company."

Nice quiet thread,.

Long today at 262. Nice volume at the lows which bodes well on this reversal and trendline break. Could this be the major trend change? Time will tell

VK - this company actually makes money and pays out a divi. I have to agree with Bridgewell the shares are oversold. Remember, you can't hold back a decent company forever.

Yes I saw that

Also Bridgewell says the shares have been oversold and after the results upgrades them from overweight to buy. It has trimmed its 2007 profit forecast by £200,000 to £6.4 million

More press coverage on our company and the increasing Channel Hotels and Properties stake, this time taken from today's Daily Telegraph (page B7):

"Away from the big stocks, Channel Hotels and Properties increased its stake in Flying Brands further to 8.1% of the Jersey-based home shopping company. Channel Hotels is the investment vehicle for David Kirch, the multi-millionaire Jersey-based entrepreneur who gave away £100 last November to everyone on the island aged 70 or over to mark his own 70th birthday. Flying Brands was unchanged at 248.5p."
