Agreed she presented somewhat underwhelmingly, but as el8ted says its down to the journalist on the day. Usually the placing of a profile such as this one by a firms PR is a precursor to some financial event.......

What you probably mean is, the way the journalist wrote the article has made the CeO’s Views appear unconvincing to you. The cash burn is a concern and will remain so until the fleet can be reduced in size to c70. Wouldn’t surprise me if a bigger player like Qatar put its hand in its pocket for loose change of c£125m & bought Flybe...good PR!

Am surprised Ryanair share price has held up so well, given the news re; pilots’ strike action today. Not only is it the loss of business in the short term, but the multiplier effect down the line. O’leary lost the argument pre-Christmas last year when he agreed to recognise unions...now the momentum is with the employees. Significant issues ahead for his business!

Southampton is easy commute from anywhere in South London (Via Waterloo or A3)
It could easily be the new Gatwick (which also has one runway).

Gatwick has about 50 million passengers - Southampton 2 million.

we're talking potential for a twenty bagger increase in passenger numbers

Flybe and Ryanair don't share exact routes, but the certainly share many similar routes.

Flybe fly numerous sunshine routes to southern Spain and France from Southampton. Ryanair fly to similar destinations from Bournemouth.

Southampton and Bournemouth are about 25 miles apart. I think continued strike action by Ryanair pilots will see more people choosing Southampton (Flybe).

With the continuing industrial relations issues going on at Ryanair, am sure this can only help sales at Flybe. Passengers don’t like uncertainty and with no resolution in sight (in fact relations getting worse) forward sales should be up, further improving yields and loss factors.

Mill5ey: And FlyBe's Southampton has another advantage, half the noise pollution is over the sea. Seriously Southampton could be that extra London airport - well in fact it soon will be as Heathrow gets worse and worse. Its miles nearer london then Boris Island and all the infrastructure is already in place . (A3/M27 and Waterloo fast trains)

FlyBe are in the driving seat in this one.

I love to fly from Southampton and do it regularly. LHR is a nightmare. LGW also. Local regional airports are so compact and easy to navigate, fast security checks, cheap-er coffee shops, quick walk to the gates... brilliant. For internal flights it's the way forward and flying definitely can be cheaper than driving or using the train. Flybe should be huge but local departure taxes must be having a negative effect and it's a somewhat unfair tax really - UK/UK flights get hit twice which can more than double the price of a ticket.

Wouldn’t disagree with you, but it’s hardly going to move the share price up in the short - medium term. Better prospect is for GBP to strengthen against USD in light of the UK base rate hike. This would materially help Flybe’s cash flow and profitability.

OK this is the REAL story. Heathrow expansion is going to make Heathrow a gigantic mess - TRAFFIC JAMS ON M25 FOR YEARS!!!!

SOUTHAMPTON - its 40 mins by train from Woking (Surrey), or just over an hour from Waterloo. flights are 30% cheaper and so is parking!...

Who is based there big time?

Southamton is de facto a major London airport and its going to get bigger and bigger and bigger...

Would like to see the performance terms under which the shares will be awarded, to be judged by his own colleagues on the remuneration committee. This company has a very poor track record for over-awarding equity to directors who subsequently bring very little to the game.

Given the timescales announced, I’d err on the opinion that they’ll never be vested, as I don’t believe the company will be a standalone business in 3 years time, let alone 5. Ripe for takeover / merger into a larger organisation to achieve the necessary economies of scale

Its a good deal.. Instead of paying £150 to fly to Edinburgh and massive parking at Heathrow, if live South of the River, go to Southamton and save a packet on parking and flight.
