What they figured out was that competition can go on without audience in the stands. They sacrifice ticket, food and souvenir sales, and a lot of the atmosphere, yet they will make that up with online betting revenues and advertising revenues too. As GVC and WH just reported that the effect was not (nor will be) as bad as predicted.

If the initial reporting of Stars for Q1 is positive (due to massive casino and poker play while sports is down) and if Fan Duel made up for lost sports margin with hits lead position in Casino, and some dribble of sports betting on the odd opportunities out there, we may be in for a positive surprise when they give prelim numbers. Is April 7th the date for that? Somehow I remember that date. Either way, the risk will be gradually taken out of the merger and then the buyers will jump in. Just my two cents...not a broker!
