22/8/2002 07:40 | It's been a while..... anyone who's feeling bullish about something, here's the place to do it | zzaxx99
25/7/2002 07:44 | Me has resisted the temptation to buy anything for over a month and sold anything that shows signs of going down so mostly in cash now. How far down do you think the FTSE will go? | this_is_me
24/7/2002 22:49 | to be fair most of them did go up for the period after tipping if briefly. but only ever traded 2 of them for about a week. It shows there is little point buying in a bear market (and vice versa) | theape
24/7/2002 22:21 | Me has just been looking at the posts on this thread from April. Me is most impressed at the way all the suggestions for RISE have gone down the toilet immediately they have been suggested on this thread! For example look at these posts by the ape nos 37, 119,136, 145, 173 or zzaxx99's post 34. If Me had a spread bet account then maybe Me could make a fortune from this thread!! | this_is_me
24/7/2002 20:11 | Time to dust the cobwebs off this one again !! | marting1
18/7/2002 11:29 | technical bounces | theape
05/7/2002 09:02 | TET and BPI flying since I posted - needless to say, I hadn't actually bought either of them .... :-( | zzaxx99
04/7/2002 10:28 | Creeeeeeeeeeaaaaaak. Couple of shares making interesting moves at the moment: Breaking out of a monumental ascending triangle, though right at the apex, which is supposed to make the breakout much less significant Not yet a breakout, but will be interesting if it gets over 240 The wages of sin in this case really are death, but for those with no ethical objections, it's flying. No, I don't think the bear market is over, but these may be something of an exception to the rule - they've risen through the last 5 days, which is something of an achievement given the pasting the rest of the market has taken. | zzaxx99
18/6/2002 20:25 | I picked up a lot of useful information & tips from this thread, and it would be a pity to see it slip into the archives. I've been closely following the 'FARA' thread, which is also excellent and very informative, but has anyone come across any recent breakouts, that meet Sham's criteria listed under the heading above? My contribution is Genus - any views? | fingers xxd
09/6/2002 17:42 | Ape, Any calls for this month? Looking for several 50% risers in June on long side, and could do with suggestions for best August, September, October shorts with MC over £250m currently and p/e ratios negative or over 75 times forecast 2002 EPS in real terms plus reducing t/o plus margins. Best regards Ashley | mr ashley james
07/6/2002 10:05 | Ape, Have you noticed Eliott Wave breaks are 3,5 or 8 trading days duration ie an exact Fibonacci numbering sequence? Best regards Ashley | mr ashley james
05/6/2002 17:51 | Paddy, I think I may have been a day early on WUN break, but it does look very good tomorrow, offer at 93p all day. When she breaks 92p mid we could be away. Best regards Ashley | mr ashley james
05/6/2002 01:10 | Paddy, Thanks, I have been looking at them for some time. Cheers and good luck on the big bad markets tomorrow. Ash | mr ashley james
04/6/2002 23:48 | Ape, Are you still long on WUN? I have calculated WUN has currently going up 2.73% per day from 9th April 2002, or an average of over 50% or 23.25p pcm. It also seems a constant riser, rising 29p in April, 17.50p in May, when the insurance sector was dropping WUN was still going up. I was considering a T25 on top of equity holdings because it seems to be a good monthly constant returner, and appears to me to have a long way to go in view hugely growing EPS before it reaches FTSE average P/E ratios of 22 x or even hopefully a higher rating noting WUN was rated at a p/e ratio of 97.35 times EPS in 2000. UB83 Still only half of two year high of 3100 approx. Personally the 150 point drop in UB83 from 1625 to 1475 low in May, closing around 1575 ie 50 points down, may well have been reason WUN only rose 17.50p in May, hopefully it will do better in the traditional insurance bull run months of June, July, perhaps into mid August. Best regards Ashley | mr ashley james
04/6/2002 16:03 | Ashley I am using IGindex and the spread on WUN is I believe 3p. | paddyfool
04/6/2002 15:16 | Backwardation, Who do you use IG Index, Finspreads,City Index? What spread do they quote long WUN, still 5p? Best regards Ashley | mr ashley james
04/6/2002 15:02 | No.... If MKT CAP over say £30 Million.... | backwardation
04/6/2002 15:01 | Backward - WUN too small to spreadbet.... | rjmahan
04/6/2002 14:53 | "I was considering a T25 on top of equity holdings because it seems to be a good monthly constant returner" Ashley....Why not try a spread bet instead ? R.P.I | backwardation
04/6/2002 07:23 | true - after being badly burnt on housing last week andseeing a 3% fall in the US - now is not the time to be buying. | rjmahan
03/6/2002 21:05 | I wouldn't go long on anything without exceptional asset backing. cash rich, negligible gearing. | theape
03/6/2002 20:18 | Ooh my dear....Ashley James....What a wag you are ! | backwardation
02/6/2002 17:33 | Ape, Re Wellington Underwriting Plc FTSE WUN Personally looking at the chart, and 2,3,5,8,13 plus 34/144 and 55/89 moving day average convergences, plus mm gaps NUMIS and ABNA on 93p/88p mid 90.50p, compared to others 97p/92p mid 94.50p(refer WUN thread) I think WUN is due to break significantly on Wednesday, probably at least 4 pence move as two mms on offer move to being in line with other mms moving on bid IMHO. It will be even better if this happens because if it does 80% of the 5p bid offer spread will be eaten up by the rise straight away, ie people would only require a further one penny rise to be breaking even day one if they can still buy at 93p next week! Most importantly WUN has broken out through 233 day moving average on a volume of per ADVFN of 102 trades on Friday 31st May 2002 totalling 1,156,900 shares traded, 1,054,578 at 93.00p, ie £980,757.54, 3,322 shares at 92.75p, ie £3,081.16, 25,000 at 92.50p, ie £23,125.00, 10,000 at 92.10p, ie £4,605.00 and 64,000 at 92.00p ie £58,880.00, a total over all of £1,070,448.70 worth of shares traded on now a consistantly increasing volume, and once again now an increasing rate of change and or Gann Angle break over last week of 7.50p over 5 trading days nearly 20%, or 5p over two days ie 2.50p per day nearly double over normal ROC over last 37 days of 1.25675p approx per day since break on 9th April 2002. All IMHO, NAG, DYOR etc, etc Best regards Ashley | mr ashley james
