04/5/2002 00:28 | This is a really good thread - esp for me (something of a beginner). Just to ask - once you hav got in on a breakout at a good level how do you decide when to sell ? ? This is an important question and the difference between a winner and a looser. For instance I got into MCTY at 314.5 and watched it rise up to 359(ish)today. I then saw a fall on volume of 700k - as opposed to c300k on a normal day. I got out at a bid of 353 and the bid is now 350. I observed a ratio of buys/sells/ of around 1:5. Is this the correct way to look at it? Should I have waited until support at 310 was tested ? The intraday charts over the past 4 days show pretty much a vertical line... Come on guys what would your next move be ? | rjmahan
04/5/2002 00:10 | I think PSN is about to break out the only thing it lacks IMHO is the volume it isnt rising - but compared to the past volume for the stock has been significant. It has broken resistance at 470. It is hitting 52 week highs, MAs are moving upwards, RSI and MACD arnt indicating overbought positions. Tuesday will be the key for it - I got in at 475.75 but I will get out quick if it falls below 470... | rjmahan
03/5/2002 23:41 | i have come accross a statement along the same lines of yours regarding how vod should be viewed. i understand that spread betters are betting on vod to go below 100p. after today's falls the price is hovering just above the 100p mark. the past few days rally may well have been a fake one and as i said above the general trend is downwards. i would veer away from this stock for the time being until the situation has cleared up. in particular at this juncture brokers valuation tend to diverse greatly. personally, if i have to invest in it i will short it at this juncture, best avoided. your alias can be shortened to ero, short for euro! as far as i remember the erogenous zones of miss jones lied somewhere arround the equator, according to rigsby, not that he came any closer than that to examine them, for geographic reasons of course! | melfaraj

03/5/2002 10:16 | erogenous jones: like the name, did you get it from rising damp? the answer to your question above is no? i wonder how did you arrive at such conclusion? perhaps you were looking at very short time span chart. for a double bottom 'w' to be effective the touchdown legs should be seperated by a certain minimum time span, usually thought to be one month. but then you can come accross some mighty w's whose legs are seperated by many months. or a small w within a big w. i have reported some big w's in this thread above. i see vod as trending downwards, not a very good omen! | melfaraj
03/5/2002 07:59 | wos, has been within very tight range having risen sharply earlier on. when would the breakout come? any ideas? | melfaraj

02/5/2002 23:05 | mnr, is it going to break through or would it fail and produce one mighty head an shoulder pattern. i would bet on a breakthrough! | melfaraj
02/5/2002 18:21 | smft, in a good 'boring' sector too, forestery and paper. it seems nowadays the more boring the sector it is the better it does, a sign of investors jitters and lack of confindence. | melfaraj
02/5/2002 15:56 | Cheers zz. I think the length of your charts dont quite show the potential of the TBO very well though. Let me have a go at posting longer term charts...... Of the 3 my favourite is Paladin as the other 2 if they succeeded would be producing TBO's based on recovery rather than genuine long term strength. A comparison of the Soco chart with Paladin also shows this wishy washy sideways kind of consolidation after a large rise and we all know what happened to Soco when it broke ;o) Fundamentals also seem to underpin the idea that PLR is the best candidate although I feel its not quite ready to pop just yet.
