I don’t think the growth will be pedestrian as Estienne expects. From what I have read - all easily available, I reckon FTC will do very well!!

Bazworth I suspect that the Dixons have a long term goal to take control of the company. They recognise its value as a microwave design house and that it has stable management in place. That doesn't mean to say that it is going to rocket overnight and only a fool would expect them to. The rise to 30p a couple of years ago was a flash in the pan of exuberance based on over confidence in the role they had in the 5G market. It was based on their antenna technology which has since been sold off so don't expect a resurgence in that direction. The Dixon's are right to believe that Filtronics provides a base for development of future technology and they are looking for something more substantial than the goals of opportunistic small and relatively short term investors

He/She's a bit of a buffoon Baz, best avoided. An uber bear with a chip on his/her shoulder for some reason, it's not worth the effort as you won't change their mind.

Seems the hot money on t-10s didn't get the rampant rise they expected:)As soon as you saw the talk of buyers coming in and TR-1s you knew there was going to be a short flurry.

Estienne, I fully appreciate that there are numerous opinions with regard to the potential success of Filtronic over the next few years. You remain fairly pessimistic but I wonder what your view is on the Dixons, Newlands and Michael Bennet acquiring 54m, 17m & 7m shares respectively? In addition, we have had two of the Directors buying of late too. They would all appear to be optimistic as to the future potential.

Why do your views differ and on what evidence do you base your opinion?

It won't achieve that level of capital growth for some time maybe 5 years or more and during that time no dividend

What are the implications for small investors if the company is acquired by a large corporate? Are we forced to sell our shares?

Corporate buyers? Wouldn’t seem to be but there may well be as the story (hopefully) continues to improve.

Last update was very positive and the next financial update is due mid-June. Good to see two of the Directors buying a reasonable chunk each and a few private investors have large or extremely large holdings that have all been increased of late.

I cannot recall Filtronic ever exaggerating their situation but the last report was very positive with regard to the progress being made. It would be good to see some evidence by way of contract news though. Very happy to hold for a few years yet!

Re the Dixons - they have been adding to their holding for a good number of years much of which will be have been at well less than 10p. Only guessing though…..

maybe they just think it is cheap not sure their average but they were paying 12-13p around financial report

looks cheap to me sectors are hot
