I've felt for a year of so that FTC is likely to be bought out as soon as it is clear that it is turning the corner. It is a nice business that is going to offer someone good synergies. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2/3 contracts announced, the share price approach 20p, and then a takeover agreed around the 30p level. But that is pure guesswork.

Estienne,

Difficult not to challenge your comments!

Lack of large orders - what about the £2M + LEO contract and the excellent forward order book of circa £17M?

Profits falling - FTC warned of that in previous statements as they move to higher margin projects. They’re also having difficulty in buying the tech that they need but have clearly stated that this situation should improve soon.

R Gibbs share purchase, do you really think he would throw another £20k into the pot if he thought there was a good chance of failure?

Cheers

Estienne,

Where do you get £5m of assets from?

£20k is not a lot. I'm content to hold but I don't see any reason to increase my holding just yet. Its got a market capital of £25M with assets of only £11M, liabilities of £4M on revenue of 17M and with falling profits under 2M. I don't see any investment in technology that would enable it to be more competitive and the lack of decent sized orders is of concern. I'll wait until it drops below 10p and then consider it.

It would appear that Mr Gibbs has a little more confidence than Estienne…̷0;, surprised at that..!

When they talk about the LEO market taking off do they mean that Leon Musk has already launched his fleet of 3300 Starlink satellites?

Nothing of any surprise in the RNS this morning.

It wouldn’t be any great shock to me to see FTC become a target for a bigger electronics company.

I know full well that others will vehemently disagree, but from what I read the company is making great progress.

Still happy to patiently hold tight!

Cheers

The above three posts are all estiene. He or they have no clue so we have to put up with them during half term.

Estienne,

Of course it warns that 23 will be worse than expected. However, to add a little balance to your comment, it will more than likely result in 24 being higher than expectations with the excellent addition of the £2m LEO contract too.

Clearly a profit warning, "Consequently, this near-term timing issue will result in weaker trading in FY2023 than current market expectation." You'd be crazy to buy

Finimps,

The contract may well start to be the transformation of Filtronic and it’s great to see them diversify into a new business area. In terms of value, £2M is well over 10% of their current level of sales. Expected delivery during this calendar year too.

As you say, non of should have thought that Filtronic would avoid the shortages. However, they have a strong order book and production has been delayed and not cancelled.

I remain extremely positive albeit frustrated to see to share price back at this level.

Cheers

Yesterday's price drop was inevitable considering the statement mentioned reduced revenue in 2023, however we've all the known about the semiconductor shortages for some time now and surely this was already factored in. The more important news of the new 2m contract is very positive and persuades me to continue holding. In fact, if I had any spare cash I'd be adding right now.
