07/12/2018 15:40 | From 6 April 2016 dividends up to £5,000 are not chargeable to UK tax so if your dividend is below that amount there will be no need to use the Swiss tax credit as there will be no UK charge against which to set it. Obviously if your dividend payment is greater than £5k then you are certainly a lucky one!! If you hold a your shares in a SIPP or ISA then likely your 'intermediary/execut "Hargreaves Lansdown does not reclaim withholding tax on behalf of clients due to a variety of reasons. Firstly, the administration behind this would be extensive, on certain days we have hundreds of individual foreign Company's making payments all with different tax rates, authorities and processes to make a reclaim. Secondly, we cannot guarantee that all clients are able to benefit from the reduced rates of tax (i.e. we can't take responsibility for confirming each client is a UK resident and therefore able to benefit from reduced rates. Thirdly, we are an execution only business and are not tax experts. Therefore the onus falls on the client to make any reclaims as and when necessary." | bellbottom
06/12/2018 19:32 | Yes the tax hit is a big loss to all of us. Perhaps we should lobby FXPO not to give dividends so we get all the income via an increased share price? | tygarreg
06/12/2018 10:08 | so insiders knew yesterday about announcement today - disgusting but hard to police ! | arja

05/12/2018 09:10 | Excellent article on Ukraine's Oligarchy - We in the UK may not call our own super rich by the same name (Oligarchs), but we do have similar issues with extremes of rich and poor in this country. As one of the richest countries in the world, we have 22% of the population officially in poverty - statistics courtesy of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Never mind Brexit - there needs to be a greater change to the very fabric of our society as we are just as corrupt a nation as Ukraine is/was. | bellbottom
05/12/2018 08:59 | Looks like second thoughts on the quality of Trump's so called 'deal' on tariffs with China. combined with Economic slowdown. Great for day traders who can accurately pick the troughs and peaks as we go on a prolonged roller coaster ride. I've never been too good at that game so will sit on the sidelines until things settle down - however long that might take! | bellbottom
04/12/2018 21:40 | with dow and US markets tanking after Uk close , I guess most stocks will open sharply lower on wednesday . Not sure what caused it but maybe lower growth prospectys as bond prices rose I noticed . | arja
04/12/2018 16:06 | When I say, 'if only' - I meant, if only I'd bought a whole wad of shares at that price, but negative news does have an effect on one's confidence even when you have a superior product and a positive long term outlook. | bellbottom
04/12/2018 16:01 | Ferrexpo's owner, Konstantin Zhevago, listed in this article on Ukrainian MP's corruption, mostly relating to the collapse of his 'private bank' and the bank's debts of billions of dollars. Don't expect this will have any bearing on the sp, but its all part of the mix and may yet have an influence. Not that long ago when the share price went down to 16p with all the negative news at the time. If only.....? BB | bellbottom

Given that the economy is running at close to capacity I would have thought was a mite rash. I'd agree with that but Obama has left the US in such a mess, Nat Debt was at $20trillion - it is now just a question of when this financial exuberance comes to a halt and fat lady singeth. Then it's curtains for us all when the global debt bubble bursts. In the meantime Record low unemployment Record low black unemployment for decades. US competitiveness up on the rise again And US cant simply ignore the ROTW freeloading Defence side, and stealing its IP. I say this as a Brit fyi. As to invoking 25th amendment. Utter tripe. Peddling this progressive left drivel always the recourse of a charlatan who hasnt got their way. | fangorn2
30/11/2018 15:34 | Maybe it's time to invoke the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Have a nice weekend folks! | bellbottom

30/11/2018 15:04 | .bellbottom30 Nov '18 - 13:46 - 5666 of 5667 0 1 0 He's an imbecilic, gold-plated dolt, who doesn't know what time of day or night it is. What's your evidence for that? He's doing wonders for US. And he isnt far wrong that ROTW has taken advantage of US since 1945. .We can only hope that he and that other side of the same coin, Mr. Putin, have some mutual terminal illness that does the world a favour in accelerating their mutual demise. Ah the wholesome values of the Left / Progressive. Anyone seen karma? | fangorn2
30/11/2018 14:47 | fangorn2, go back to brexit to spout your nonsense and love of Putin ! ( wry smile ) | arja

Not says one thing, does the opposite as most slippery lying politicians always do. And libtards the world over detest him. Most enjoyable. | fangorn2
