As early as next week, iron ore prices may start to reflect the impacts of Vale's dam bursting at Corrego de Feijao in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, according to an analysis by S&P Global Platts. Http://www.mining.com/vales-tailings-dam-bursts-end-year-rebound-iron-ore-prices/

foxy22, I guess we just do what the chart tells us to do but nice to know if any reason for it - not iron ore price it seems . Missed an opportunity to trade it today as trading CYB but got that wrong I think buying at 184 but hoping it will pick up this afternoon. With brexit vote today, need to be wary !

Yes but 0.4m tonnes of 2018 production has slipped into 2019 sales which must increase 2018 cost per ton but equally decrease 2019 cost per ton. Realized prices are also up 9% but I agree a 30% increase in cost per ton due to fuel and maintenance costs does need explaining although long term maintenance plans were forecast a year ago to improve production by 2020 to 12m tonnes per annum.

Ferrexpo trading update as released yesterday. Not many surprises there - but one item does stand out. Production costs have increased by a third, due to increased energy costs and other mining costs. That is a huge percentage increase on any terms. There had been expectations a year or two ago, that debts might be cleared by 2021. At the current rate of debt reduction, that could stretch out to 2024/2025. Thanks for that bell...……;..very interesting. The last thing they need is this trade war with America and maybe Apple's recent downturn will show the U.S. that there could be a big downside to them as well.Hopefully they can reach some kind of agreement soon and settle markets.

This written by a western freelance journalist who lives in Bejing, so has a good insight into the 'real' economic situation on the ground, so to speak, and not the government controlled news items that normally come out of China. A few grammatical/spelling mistakes in the article but well worth a read - only a short article. Thanks . I forgot about that and wondered why it was down . however . mining stocks have had a few good days and need a breather I guess. a PV and avoiding brexit would help stocks a lot .
