M's if you'd had any sense and sold FKL at the same time and bought back in today I'd have said well done. They will more than recover whoever drills, It's just that we hold a stake in FOGL and await the next exploration results.

Sold FOGL a few days ago after report of only 10% chance of oil dicovery, kept FKL though, more buys than sells so hopefully they will recover over the coming days.

The game's just beginning. I have no intention of selling FKL. 360p? - market makers must be joking!

I topped up at 506p on Friday pm but need north of 540p for pure profit.
Hoping it was a good move, given the FOGL RNS to come soon !
FKL could easily move to 750p+ next week (if positive news) and with all the other drills still to come the sky's the limit !
Obviously wish i had got into everything pre RKH, as it would have been easier to stomach a reduction in profit, than take a straight loss.

not a big fan of robbo, but appears reasonable over here.
daiprice, however is constantly on the money.
no problems over here i can see - but an issue of two over on fogl.
both will prevail imo,but not without a bit of drama (watch fogl over next few days).
not a trader btw.
bp will prevail.

FKL are undoubtably the safest place to be amongst the Toroa speculatives. Even if the outcome is considerably better than Rockhopper's there is still Argentina and the oil price as the major risk factors. If the oil price falls below US$50 per barrel then the whole shooting match could go on hold.

Of course the oil price could rise back over US$100 per barrel making the value of Falklands Oil beyond imagination, and Argentina could well capitulate for a royalty agreement.

Other factors are the moves to greener oil from shale in Canada and increasing use of energy from the sun in supplying power for housing and transferring some back into the grid. Diesel from sub-bituminous coal in South Australia is another factor with at least 20 billion barrels located there.

Well The Times sources were right about RKH will they be right about FOGL ?

Rockhopper Exploration plc
Sea Lion Exploration Well Ð 14/10-2

Oil Discovery Ð Results of Sample Analysis

Rockhopper Exploration, the North Falkland Basin oil and gas exploration company, is pleased to provide results following analysis of wireline MDT samples obtained from the recent Sea Lion 14/10-2 oil discovery well in the North Falkland Basin.

Samples analysed under reservoir conditions in a specialist laboratory are confirmed as medium grade crude with the following characteristics:

á API confirmed as 26.4 - 29.2 degrees

á Low Viscosity of 6.5 - 8.5 centipoises at reservoir pressure

á Gas Oil Ratio of 261 - 272 standard cubic feet per stock tank barrel

á A typical Wax Content of 18.4% - 20.8% wt*

á Formation Value Factor (FVF) of 1.16

á Low sulphur of around 0.2% weight

Sam Moody, Managing Director, commented:

"These positive results, when combined with our knowledge of reservoir quality from logging data, give us further comfort that a flow test of the Sea Lion well will confirm a mobile crude oil.

The wax content is typical for a lacustrine sourced crude oil and significantly lower than many other producing oilfields worldwide. Furthermore the viscosity, gas oil ratio, FVF and sulphur are all better than we anticipated."

Falklands rumours in tomorrow Times

There was again speculation about some of those companies drilling for oil off the Falkland Islands. Rockhopper Exploration fell 9½p to 282¼p, although there were some who reckoned that an encouraging update on the quality of the oil that it had found would emerge today.

Falkland Oil and Gas was 28p lower at 216p, despite rumours that a positive drilling report was being readied for Monday.

robson1974 - 23 Jun'10 - 07:19 - 177 of 203 edit (UPDATED)

Market Cap £48m
Value of Direct FOGL shares = (was £24m) now £30m
Implied Enterprise Value of Operating businesses = (was £21m) now £18m
Operating Profit achieved by Operating businesses = c.£3.2m

EV/Operating Profit = ( was c.6x) now c.5x for an Infrastructure business with MASSIVE growth potential

This stock should be 1000p+ IMO as it has almost zero value attributed for the Falklands potential illustrated by the combined almost £2000m market cap of the Falkland Oil Explorers
