01/6/2010 14:30 | FOGL spuds Toroa RNS out | robson1974
01/6/2010 12:23 | envirovision. I am sure you are not truly as blinkered as your post suggests, and thus I conclude your post is more mischief than a statement of stupidity. Such remarks were no doubt made by some before Saudi Arabia become so prolific in Oil. Camels to Gold plated Cadillacs. Many ifs at this stage, though Rockhopper may reduce those ifs hugely, and add to the belief of expert opinion that there are indeed 60Billion Bls in the areas.. If so-such a prize will keep many drilling over the years to come.,and unlike last time,as you so wrongly compare,Oil is not $10 pbl. Of course any further success with the shorter term drills, and it`s just telephone numbers from thereon. | ![]() richgit
01/6/2010 09:12 | I think some people need to try to grasp the difference between Market Cap and Enterprise Value. | robson1974
31/5/2010 13:48 | The FI have been a cruise ship destination for a while now due to the wildlife on the islands. Don't forget a large chunk of the market cap is made up of the UK businesses Momart & PHFC!! | ![]() eburne1960
30/5/2010 23:31 | I guess apart from the would be oil (god help if its non comercial as once thought) problem then, as the entire market cap of the company far exceeds the GDP of the whole island with its 3000 residents. LOL. Maybe more fish and chip shops could boost the economy, but im not so sure. Cant say it ever occured to me to go there for a holiday but what do i know. | ![]() envirovision
29/5/2010 19:19 | The loss making Upland Goose Hotel was closed at the end of March 2008 and work has continued to convert the hotel into residential properties. This landmark site in the centre of Stanley will provide 12 distinct heritage homes which will be sold during the next financial year. In the longer term we are progressing plans for the possible development, as a joint venture, of our Dairy Paddock site which could provide further housing for the future expansion of Stanley. | the black spanner
29/5/2010 17:57 | Falkland Islands Company Limited (100% owned by FIH) FIC's operations are small by the standards of a large country, but in the Falkland Islands, which have a population of around 3,000, they are crucial. Retail & Distribution: several outlets in Stanley and Mount Pleasant including a supermarket (featuring supplies from Waitrose), a gift shop, a home entertainment shop, a homecare centre, an office supplier, a building supplies company and a clothes shop. There is also a restaurant. Upland Goose Hotel: an 18 bedroom hotel which dates from the mid 19th century and was originally called the Eagle Inn. Darwin Shipping: the main shipping link between the Falkland Islands and the United Kingdom. FIC can also arrange coastal shipping and shipping to Chile, which is the nearest country to the Falklands excluding Argentina. Port services: cargo handling, warehousing, refuelling and maintenance. Automotive agency: a Land Rover dealership, a Caterpillar agency, and boat maintenance. Property: FIC owns residential property for let, as well as commercial units and development land. Insurance: a general insurance agency and a Lloyd's agency. | robson1974
29/5/2010 17:34 | Shell spent $4bn yesterday buying some poxy US gas firm. It is chicken feed to them. RKH at $600m would give them access to huge oil and gas discoveries potentially solve their reserve replacement problem with an early 'cheap' entry into a new multi-billion boe oil/gas province. Suspect a lot of majors will be beating a path to the doors of RKH in coming days if they have not already. | robson1974
29/5/2010 16:59 | Time for Shell to swallow their pride perhaps?? | ![]() scaleyman
29/5/2010 16:53 | Newspaper reports suggesting fundraising at significant premium for RKH coming. Would be interesting if a Major farmed in. | robson1974

27/5/2010 12:06 | FT Alphaville today talking about rumours of BP bid for a Falklands Oiler and also the size of upgrade to RKH's potential reserves/resources suspect the printed edition will include that tomorrow | robson1974

26/5/2010 15:57 | yes, will get around to doing so... But at say £2 per FOGL share the EV of the Falklands Property and Shipping holdings is just £3m ! | robson1974
26/5/2010 15:55 | FKL looking good value today then. | ![]() envirovision
26/5/2010 15:49 | This should soon follow one would hope. FOGL over £2 I would expect should get FKL back around £6. Robson do you think its worth putting a table in the header that displays the value of FKL's share in FOGL against a scale of the FOGL share price? Best regards. | ![]() keya5000
26/5/2010 15:43 | FOGL breaking out | robson1974
25/5/2010 23:23 | At 46m Market Cap I make the Enterprise Value of the Falklands business just 6m ! Astounding value. | robson1974
25/5/2010 21:10 | Of course this share is falling, I topped up with some more. On a 5 year horizon, I'm not overly worried at present. Of course the moment I sell some the price will start to rise. | ![]() omigod
25/5/2010 13:56 | I've sold approx 40% of my FKL holding for a free carry on Toroa, I was hoping to get 600p it didn't happen. I will buy them back on the outcome of Toroa whichever way it goes. | the black spanner
25/5/2010 12:59 | I've made a similar decision. Decided to hold the oil gambles .. FKL, FOGL, RKH and KEA .. but the rest of my portfolio has been sold. As you say, the market is currently awful and I can't see it getting any better over the next few weeks. Despite the markets, FKL is a hold imo. Only 9 million shares, so it will be difficult to buy back in should good news filter through. | adshahmat
25/5/2010 10:50 | This market is awful and impossible to call. I've sold my entire portfolio today as this could all get a lot worse. When I buy back in this will be the first share I buy though. Long term this is beautiful. Cash will be king if the market drops back to previous lows. | ohsod1t
25/5/2010 07:59 | 819332 - a source of finance will be the continuing sale of the Dairy Paddock estate of houses. 350 planned. Say the average profit to be about £25,000 per plot, then that will amount to £9m or £1 a share. If FOGL takes off thet could be a source of additional finance - but FKL will not overdo the FOGl sales. If FOGL does not take off but the north basin alone does, that may give more of a financing problem for expansion - but FKL are extremely well placed, have all the right connections with 150 years of FI trading. What a lovely "problem" to have. | ![]() whackford |
