08/7/2005 09:15 | Tuesday, July 05, 2005 9:09:16 AM ET J.P. Morgan Securities LONDON, July 5 (newratings.com) - Analyst Orji Uche of JP Morgan mentions that the share prices of the European semiconductor companies reflect only currency strength and not a fundamental recovery. In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that the valuations of the European semiconductor stocks do not reflect a fundamental recovery in the sector. The data released by the SIA for May indicates that the global semiconductor sales are in-line with the estimates, the analysts say. The unit shipments for semiconductors are expected to rebound globally during 2H05, since most of the inventory correction in the sector has been completed, the analyst adds. JP Morgan prefers the stocks of ASML (ASML-EUR), Philips (PHI-EUR), ASM International (AVS) and ARM Holdings (ARM-GBX) at present. | ![]() knowing | |

07/7/2005 13:00 | By Colin Holland EETUK.com 21 June 2005 (5:29 p.m. GMT) LONDON - The board of Eurodis Electron have admitted that it is in ongoing merger discussions, including the provision of due diligence information, with another electronics distributor. In statement to the London Stock Exchange it said "there can be no certainty that an offer will be made nor as to the terms on which any offer might be made". City speculation puts Abacus as top of the list of potential partners while Acal is another potential suitor. Both companies have investment from Unicorn Asset management which also owns 12.9% of Eurodis and is said to be 'a long-term advocate of consolidation'. In March Eurodis Electron announced that its pan European agreement to distribute Philips products, which represented approximately Euro44million of the Group's annual sales, would end in January 2006.
