Post 1750. I don’t think it’s easy for U.K. companies to win in the USA full stop eg. EMI ct scanner patent totally ignored in US by GEC who manufactured copies. Years later, after years of litigation, they settled but no punitive damages as I recall, forays by NG Vodaphone and Stagecoach eventually snuffed out and more recently T. ROwe Price taking a large stake in IQE around £1 per share lending them out for shorting thereby depressing the share price, while US chip makers share prices soar. USA FIRST

EQT may well be seen as an Irish company. This might stand us in good stead in the hibernophile US

The BP disaster wasn't being compared with the current EQT situation in that way, not in my mind anyway. It was simply to suggest that it's not easy for a UK company to win a case against a US company in a US court.

Agreed marvelman. To compare these examples is completely stupid. An environmental disaster with tragically deaths involved it is obscene to do so.

Storm in a tea cup.EQT’s primary short term focus in the UK and European markets that in themselves, will be company makers. The US is relevant and this is a set back but in context, it hardly matters. All this stuff about £10 million + in legal fees is garbage.

halfbrain...it is NOT an example...completeley different to compare an environmental disaster (such as yourself) to a patent claim.... enjoy your moment of joy at others expense as is your raison d'etra.

Well I certainly wouldn't have added last week had this news been in the mix on 9th - oh wait a minute...

As I said, a bad taste and a "sword of Damocles" that will ever be in the background.

Marvelidiot, BP is an example of the challenges british and any non US companies have in the US courts where you need to prove innocence and defend yourself at a great cost $$$. The £10 million raised may be wiped out on legal costs alone. So do EQT defend or walk away.... its lose lose for EQT. The US courts are an expensive process and they are difficult to win a case. Remember there is no smoke without fire 🔥 You cant assume the case is false unless you have seen the evidence...so do you feel lucky then buy more shares. Too risky for me at this stage!!!

I would suggest that EQT make a counter claim today this will show they mean business. EQT already stated “ Company will strongly and robustly defend against what it believes are unfounded and vexatious actions and any such similar actions in the future and will seek redress where applicable” If EQT believe this then they MUST attack back against the claim TODAY. Otherwise this will go on and on. When US marked opens we may see a further hit to the share price unless EQT put out a counterclaim .... £100million... US courts work more effectively and quickly when a large counter claim is made. JUSTICE WILL BE DONE WITH A WRONG PUT RIGHT...

vatnabrekk...apologies, I misunderstood your point. Halpenny's post 1716 and his further utterings are what I refer to and his rubbish comparison with BP done purely for self delectation. Regards.

Multiple defendants and so the case is not just against EQT and may be specific to the North Fork development - presumably funding of the defence to any alleged patent infringement will be provided by all the defendants.
