15/7/2006 12:38 | Strange how some Brokers always seem to dwell on the negatives. A statement today in the Daily Mail .... "Citigroup says sell at 233p (now 226p). Investors should not get over-excited about the international growth rate, because the group seems unable to produce any operational gearing." Here's part of the AGM statement Citigroup refer to ... "The group also issued a trading update, saying overall sales grew by 9 pct in the first quarter, after a 15 pct increase in international revenues offset flat sales in the UK. Lawson said revenues from the group's international businesses are growing strongly and now represent over half of the total." Now that seems very positive to me. Add to this a 8% yield, plus a commitment from the company to maintain the dividend, and this looks to me to be a steal at the present price. | horsemike

22/6/2006 11:18 | surely good news for ECM... LONDON (AFX) - UK manufacturers were more confident about output over the next three months, with optimism rising to levels not seen since February 2005, the UK's leading business lobby group said today. In its monthly industrial trends survey, the Confederation of British Industry said the expected volume of output balance for the next three rose to +14 pct from +10 pct in May. Thirty-one pct of manufacturers expected gains in output while 17 pct predicted falls, leading to the +14 pct net balance which is the highest since February 2005. The latest reading beats expectations of a slowing down to +8 pct. Meanwhile, the total orders balance was unchanged in June at -12 pct, as expected. Here, 20 pct said output was above normal while 32 pct said they were lower. Export orders for the month slipped to -3 pct from zero pct in May which was the healthiest reading in over a decade. sivakumar.sithraputh ss/ss/joy | botman2

19/6/2006 13:46 | 241 taken out. hows this for thought - if you buy immediately before the shares go ex-div, you accrue 31p in dividends in 1 year and 1day (assuming company maintains the dividend rate as they say they will) | bot_man
19/6/2006 13:32 | 241 being nibbled. its going to be very interesting to see how these trade through the dividend | bot_man
