For most Airline 2020 will be at best break even or worst massive losses. I would not mind sticking some of these away in my ISA at sub 900p in a months time if possible. No point investing now as Spain, Germany, France and the UK are about to go through what Italy has experience in the previous weeks.

Brasso3,

Agree. They have a solid route network and customers will return. Also, very healthy balance sheet. The key, which is important, is to gut any unnecessary costs so they can fly through this storm.

At some point EZY will become a bargain but I do not think that will be during March. Could be one to target with the new ISA allowance in April.

Don't be foolish. People out on the streets or at home are dying, makes little difference where one is.

Here we go ( as predicted)

Korean Air Lines warned on Monday that the coronavirus outbreak could threaten its survival after more than half of the world restricted passengers entering from South Korea.

Woo Kee-hong, Korean Air’s president, said more than 80% of South Korea’s biggest carrier’s international capacity had been cut as a result of travel restrictions globally, compared with a 18% cut made during the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis.

“We can easily imagine the severity of the crisis we are facing in comparison. And what is more daunting is that the situation can get worse at any time and we cannot even predict how long it will last,” he said in a memo to employees.

Governments will not closedown airspace, at worst just impost restrictions. They need apd. Also, airlines that have grounded aircraft and shutdown/changed scheduling are reducing cashburn and therefore are in a strong position to deal with fallouts like this.

I would rather be in an LCC than a behemoth like IAG that is spread widely and has chunky costbase. LCC's are much leaner and meaner, better able to control the cost units as opposed to larger concerns.

Just think about all those A380's that cost a bloody fortune and are now grounded because they are uneconomic to fly with barely 20% of seats filled and on long distance routes that people are avoiding massively. The entire industry is in trouble, but LCC's are in a better position to respond quickly to these crises. Also, on the thinner routes that are still flying, LCC's are handsdown much more competitive than Legacy behemoths.

I don't know about coronavirus, we seem to have had an outbreak of mad cow disease on here again this morning.

A guy over in China who had the virus was just on Radio Two (Vine) saying that it's not as bad as many are making out. If you are reasonably healthy and a none smoker then don't waste too much time worrying about it.

EU rules are that there are no state bailouts.

It is, they were quicker than many others to start making operational changes. The entire industry is getting hammered, from big to small, no airline is immune to these difficult times.
