irgin Atlantic has confirmed it has been forced to operate some near-empty flights after bookings were dented by the coronavirus outbreak.

It is operating the flights to try to retain take-off and landing slots at major airports such as Heathrow.

Under European law, if flights are not operated, slots have to be forfeited.

All Italy flights need to be cancelled or else Easyjet and Ryanair etc. will be forcing their customers to ignore FCO and Italian government advice/warnings, inviting class-action lawsuits.

Admit to being surprised by this bounce. I am personally very negative about what corona virus will do to Europe over coming month so consequently very bearish on ftse and airlines

Back to the share price from Thurs 5th lunchtime- of course, the nature of the black swan meant travel gets hammered first. No change to my view on any of my posts made over past couple of weeks. Well run business, able to react fast, no idea what their hedging policy is on fuel, but assume they are good here to take advantage for the long term...

With fuel prices falling so much over the past few days this rise might catch a few out.
