tlobs,
just stating that my reluctance to invest here is because of the great uncertainty that Brexit gives to EZJ. It could have a devastating impact.
As an airline I like it and use them frequently.

Still under the pump I see - lots of pressure on pricing and costs rising with fuel and pound weakness.

European airlines will have similar have similar agreements with UK airports I would have thought.

Some of the idiots in the media seem to think that it only works in one direction ;-)

Didn't EZJ state it was to setup a subsidiary of its business placed in the EU so it could still operate within? As a precautionary measure?

tlobs,

yes but the impact will only develop over the coming two years.
EZJ has terms with European airports which may change, restricting their destinations / slots and significantly putting up airport costs.

Why is that?

Brexit is all done and dusted. We are thankfully out !

The big risk to EZJ is Brexit - and that risk is huge.

I'm genuinely puzzled by the 7% fall - surely this is a huge over-reaction to a fairly solid set of results? I guess it makes a buying opportunity!

In other news .....

The pound surged to a one-month high as unease over Donald Trump’s presidency weakened the dollar.  Sterling rose 0.6 per cent against the dollar to $1.244 on Monday, its highest level since December 19.

I exited yesterday before close for a nice profit, I'm glad I did now! I'm surprised it's down as much as it is. I would guess the bottom and see this as an opportunity to top up. IMHO

I must have read the wrong set of results !

Very mixed results.

This says it all:-

"REVENUE PER SEAT DECREASED BY 8.2% AT CONSTANT CURRENCY."

.... that is one enormous decrease in revenue per seat and feeds into the thesis of the savage sector-wide Price War.

There is further evidence of a sector problem brewing in my opinion. Passengers flown increased by 8.2% but Total Revenue did not keep pace and only increased by 7.2%.

The all-important OUTLOOK statement raises red warning flags:

"The pricing and operating environment remains tough"

"...and continued strong growth in European short haul capacity impacting yields across the industry."

"The weakness of Sterling is expected to impact easyJet's year on year Profit before tax for financial year 2017 by around GBP105 million."

The ongoing sectoral Price War, surging additional capacity and sterling weakness makes for an unforgiving environment for all operators and in my view is set to get worse and inflict further pain across the whole sector.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

It is estimated that at current exchange rates4 and with jet fuel remaining within a $520 metric tonne to $600 metric tonne trading range, easyJet's unit fuel bill for the first half of the financial year is likely to decrease by between £70 million and £80 million compared to the six months to 31 March 2016. On a full year basis it is estimated that at current exchange rates and with jet fuel within a $520 metric tonne to $600 metric tonne trading range, easyJet's unit fuel bill for the 12 months ending 30 September 2017 is likely to decrease by between £215 million and £240 million compared to the 12 months to 30 September 2016.

In addition, exchange rate movements are likely to have around a £75 million adverse impact compared to the six months to 31 March 2016 on headline earnings and are likely to have around a £105 million adverse impact compared to the 12 months to 30 September 2016.

Solid figures. Nothing nasty at first glance. Pretty much inline with what they said in December. Good to see passenger numbers well up.

Q1 results are out tomorrow - looks like the city has caught wind and the share price is heating up. However in previous quarters the same has occurred before a heavy correction the following day.

Will hold for now.
