10/1/2017 10:12 | Seems to me that there is a horribly negative outlook for Revenue Per Kilometer in the European short-haul sector. Selling seats at such cheap prices can be highly damaging to the bottom line for all the carriers engaging in this Price War. As RyanAir said the other day, their load factors and passenger numbers are up ON THE BACK OF LOWER FARES. This is not good. More and more jets are due for delivery in the coming year and this will further exacerbate the already excess capacity within the sector. Sector profitability is going to be hard hit and this will be reflected in equity prices. It would not surprise me if the European short-haul sector doesn't prove to be one of the worst performing sectors for investor returns in 2017. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
10/1/2017 10:02 | The irony... "you create a very bad vibe and really negative/unlucky karma on this bulletin board" That one really did make me laugh out loud. EasyJet are doing a great job in a competitive market and they will thankfully be sharing their profits out with shareholders once again as promised in the near future. If you don't like positive posters then I suggest that you use the filter button. | tlobs2
10/1/2017 09:17 | I don't waste any money on newspapers Andy, although I'm sure that some people get reassurance from reading doom and gloom at every opportunity. And QP apologies for posting on your bulletin board. I didn't realise it was a service dedicated just to you. If you want to send personal messages try email. | tlobs2
10/1/2017 08:12 | I dont think tslob read the FT. He strikes me more of a Beano or Dandy type of fella. Or The Sun. | andy pipkin
10/1/2017 07:42 | It's just a bit tricky when you have ski's and spare clothes with you. | tlobs2
10/1/2017 03:25 | as you know. many people just prefer hand luggage these days. | quepassa
09/1/2017 12:45 | You may have missed it Andy, but last months passenger numbers for December Y-O-Y were +15%. Pretty impressive it must be said. As we approach the 23rd February this share will probably be trading at around 1150p-1200p so get those stop losses tightened up - assuming that you still have a loss making short in place. PS London to Krakow on EasyJet this Friday coming back Monday would cost you £154 per person but be quick as the flight is nearly full ;-) | tlobs2
09/1/2017 12:28 | Sterling tumbling again. I wonder if they will issue a profit warning this month or wait till next. | andy pipkin
09/1/2017 10:16 | Some prices ( as at 7/1/17). One way. 6th. Feb. London to Warsaw. Flights. approx 2 1/2 hours: Luton to Warsaw . WizzAir £15.49 Stansted to Warsaw. RyanAir £14.99 Coach. approx 30 hours: Victoria Coach station to Warsaw. National Express/Eurolines £56 Coach travel is historically considered the cheapest form of travel. When it's £40 more expensive to travel by coach rather than air from London to Warsaw, it is telling you something about the current airline Price War. Is it surprising that the airline passenger numbers are buoyant at these cut-throat prices? ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
06/1/2017 08:20 | mastey - seat price is of course key, but this is where EZJs much higher percentage of the higher margin business market is a major commercial advantage. With the lower hedged fuel prices for 2017 about to start kicking in, we should see a significant improvement in profitability going forward. | suffersnofools
06/1/2017 08:19 | I've had three or four desperate emails from Ryanair in the past couple of days. Their mode of operation is seemingly only based around cheap flights. EasyJet have repositioned themselves as the ones to turn to for significantly better destinations and competitive prices. It looks like the markets like it with an increase already of around 15p in early trading. | tlobs2
06/1/2017 08:07 | Interesting article in motley fool, complete about turn QP agree that these numbers don't list seat prices however Ryanair are more aggressive in price reductions so their figures will play out much worse | mastey
06/1/2017 07:58 | Two days ago RyanaAir issued their passenger and load stats for December which were very buoyant. However alongside these stats they said specifically that this "jumped 3% to 94%, ON THE BACK OF LOWER FARES IN DECEMBER". Other airlines are seeing their prices dragged down to compete. Such low air prices impact negatively on already thin operating margins and profit margins. You can sell a lot of anything if you sell it cheap enough but don't necessarily make much money on it. With sector prices slashed to the floor and so heavily discounted at a time of rising oil prices, REVENUE PER SEAT/KILOMETER will be badly hit. ALL IMO> DYOR. QP | quepassa
06/1/2017 07:49 | I somehow suspect that our resident doom mongers might be keeping a very low profile this morning. If anybody or any organisations are still short this morning then they really do deserve to get shafted. The writing has been on the wall for a few weeks now. | tlobs2
06/1/2017 07:45 | Mastey - Excellent news on the scan! Excellent set of numbers. Onwards and upwards. | suffersnofools
06/1/2017 07:20 | Wow now that's a turnaround I knew they were going to be good as I checked availability on flights around Xmas and couldn't get any on some routes but not that good, we could be on £12 shortly after opening if not more! IMHO dyor | csmwssk12hu
06/1/2017 07:09 | Excellent passenger statistics for December announced as expected. Passenger numbers UP from 4.8m to 5.5m !!! Y-O-Y up from 69.8m to 74.5m Well done. | tlobs2
05/1/2017 21:16 | Hi SNF good to see you back Firstly personally had a clear scan 22nd dec , so still in full remission. Load factor for Dec will be interesting when reported however as QP has mentioned load factors and passengers are one thing , seat price is enough. Interesting Ryanair having more flash sales than sofa companies. Have booked a couple of trips with Easy and agree the seat prices are lower than last year but have no doubt they had a super Xmas with Gatwick beating all records. Same with Swit airports . The USD rally is in my view over and sterling will be hitting 1.2750 before we know it and then serious legs up. All good. The tide is turning and as we know the market sees the turning tide before it happens. This is a spring tide by the way | mastey
05/1/2017 14:51 | Afternoon and a Happy New Year to all. Back from hols and pleased to see EZJ so pleased by my return :) Value will out. 2017 will be a good year for holders here. | suffersnofools
05/1/2017 10:47 | A nice start to the day. Looks like 1200p might arrive a lot sooner than the 23rd of Feb :-) | tlobs2
04/1/2017 12:46 | Greetings Andy. And a very good afternoon to you. Looking at the facts out there at the moment I think we are about to start a steady rise to around 1200p as we approach the ex-dividend date (23rd Feb). All IMHO | tlobs2
03/1/2017 19:07 | Unfortunately, tslob does tend to ruin every discussion board he posts on. | andy pipkin |
