20/1/2017 13:01 | Today's Investors Chronicle mentions that for 2017: " predictions are for a hefty 16% dividend cut by Easyjet on lower earnings". Page 10. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
18/1/2017 00:43 | Was that really a 49% increase in air fares? That must have covered any cost increases and could now lead to higher profits than originally forecast, maybe why price rise so much today, turning point is upon us there was a general consensus that prices would rise in January across the board but looks like they did it in December imho dyor | csmwssk12hu
17/1/2017 16:20 | Have been watching Easyjet for ages. Had some shares for a while and lost a bit, but got back in on a dip and my waiting and research appears to have finally paid off. I still think these shares are cheap and are only being held back by irrational fears. | robbiereliable
17/1/2017 14:58 | pagebros - exactly | suffersnofools
17/1/2017 14:31 | Thanks for the good luck Andy but I don't think ill need it, instead I rely on solid research. For me the worry about inflation is overdone, UK consumers are still spending and will continue to do so. Unemployment is falling and wages ‘slowly’ increasing, as long as inflation doesn't get out of control then I don't believe it will slow consumer spending this year as some are predicting. I would be worried if we had seen a drop in passengers travelling on EasyJet but we have seen an increase. Inflation is not a bad thing if people keep spending regardless and (in my opinion) they will. As for Oil, with OPEC not likely to extend the cut after 6 months, shale producers coming back on line quicker than anyone anticipated and renewable energy an ever increasing impact the current price range of $50-$60 seems reasonably stable. As that falls into EasyJet’s fuel guidance of $400 – $520 per metric tonne, I don’t see oil prices as an issue at this time. At this range and with Easyjets current hedge they are still set to make a bigger saving on fuel than last year. As for the pound, while I wouldn't want to see it any lower than 1.20, Easyjet have given guidance as to how this will impact profit for 2017 and it’s got to drop a fair way to have a meaningful impact. However I don't see it dropping much lower than this and given Trumps comments on the dollar today together with May's speech we have all ready moved back above 1.23, 1.26 is in sight and anything above this is positive for EasyJet. | pagebros
17/1/2017 13:09 | Well done Mrs May. Great speech that appears to have given quite a few companies a boost :-) | tlobs2
17/1/2017 11:20 | Cable weaker; oil stronger; UK consumers maxed out. Good luck with that one. | andy pipkin
17/1/2017 10:56 | Pricing power is returning to the airlines, IMO easyjet looks very attractive at these levels. | pagebros
11/1/2017 08:47 | Mastey, sorry to see you go but good health and happiness wherever your travels take you. Good luck. | tlobs2
11/1/2017 04:38 | Shame to lose you Mastey but I understand where you're coming from. My approach for 2017 is to ignore the ADVFN nutters :) | suffersnofools
10/1/2017 22:38 | Won't be posting any further on this board as quite frankly it's turned into a circus. I really hoped it was a forum to debate professionally opposing views. QP I wish you well in all for the future however I respectfully request you reflect on your posts with regard to wife beating etc which I find distasteful and quite frankly disgraceful. SNF it has been a pleasure to communicate with you and TLobs you are a better man than me to let the attacks on you go. | mastey
10/1/2017 17:50 | Wow I have just seen the dividend payout amount when it goes ex dividend in February. Very nice! | gswredland
10/1/2017 15:42 | Just reading the latest update again. A 15% increase YoY in passenger numbers is simply staggering. No wonder they ordered more planes - the management can see the growth that is coming to the sector. The current valuation would be cheap even if the outlook was flat but with the most recent government report forecasting 3% annual growth in short haul aviation through to 2050 this will continue to be a growth stock. With a low single figure PE multiple, outstanding divi yield AND capital growth I suspect the current share price increase is being driven by funds buying in in expectation of a strong 2017 performance. | suffersnofools
10/1/2017 14:51 | Tried to have a dry January but he only managed a week before his alcohol addiction got the better of him. down the pub. ten pints again last night. so after a calm start to the beginning of january, his alcoholism has taken hold again and he is now looking for a fight again. uses the bulletin boards as his verbal punch-bag and we know what he uses for his physical punch-bag. 10/1/2017 14:33 | Don't be bitter QuePassa. You have lost despite your best efforts for around six months. Quite often you have posted DYOR. You have then ignored your own advice and followed other self proclaimed aviation industry experts who have called this completely incorrectly. EasyJet is a popular profitable company with a loyal customer base. They even pay dividends to their shareholders on a regular basis. If you are quick you could do a lot worse that going long in the lead up to the ex-dividend date. That's a spot of my advice to you but feel free to do some of your own ;-) | tlobs2
10/1/2017 14:22 | Yes. Bought at 1950 and now down at 1050. Clearly still hung over from last night's ten pint session with his low-life mates at the pub. no doubt he will have ensured that his wife's face will be looking like a blind cobbler's thumb again today. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
10/1/2017 14:16 | Not like you to be 100% wrong QuePassa. My first investment here was in July 2016. I don't know about of the rest of you happy EasyJet investors, but can you smell somebody's @rse on fire here. Share price is currently +21p if you are interested QP DYOR - LOL | tlobs2
10/1/2017 13:57 | tlobs bought at 1950 and the share is down at 1050p. Lost 40% of his money and he still thinks it's going up. Listed as one of the top ten worst performers for 2016. Prospects for the short-haul sector look dire in my opinion for 2017. A very, very worrying outlook beset with challenges not least of which is the cut-throat pricing. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
10/1/2017 13:50 | Who would have thought it. With all the doom and gloom listed on here earlier the share price rises by 18p. That should spell the end for most sensible shorters to take their losses on the chin and move on. | tlobs2
10/1/2017 13:32 | SP up again. Follow through on bumper passenger numbers.Market starting to look ahead to holiday season and bullish times for EZJ. Reduced fuel prices going really help the bottom line. | suffersnofools
10/1/2017 11:00 | In my view, the outlook for sector remains highly negative with so many factors likely to detract such as: 1. Surging oil prices 2. Sterling weakness 3. Highly damaging Price War 4. Growing excess capacity 5. Delivery of large number of jets in 2017 6. Brexit worries. 7. Extreme competitive forces 8. Prolific And profound discounting. All in all, a very bleak sectoral outlook for 2017. a very worrying backdrop and potential to be one of the worst performing sectors for 2017. ALL IMO> DYOR. QP | quepassa
10/1/2017 10:53 | (ShareCast News) - Budget airline easyJet's passenger numbers and load factor improved in December. The FTSE 100 company's passenger numbers jumped 15.1% to 5.57m last month, compared to the same month the previous year. Meanwhile the load factor - the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of seats available - rose 3.3 percentage points to 89.9%. On a rolling basis, passenger numbers rose 6.6% to 74.45m and the load factor was largely flat at 91.5%. | tlobs2 |
