Well it is interesting isn't it.

Management have done nothing but buy shares for the last 18 months.

And there have been nothing but good numbers coming out of the company and a decent outlook statement.

And now news that Easyjet are having a recruitment drive. Why? Because they are doing badly? I am joking of course.

I have to think that Mr market is depressed for other reasons

That's just manufactured nonsense about the protests and riots
It's not putting anybody off. Bookings are the highest ever. I have been in this business in Europe more than 20 years and we have never had a summer like this.
The protests are ridiculous, more press than protesters. Tourism supports nearly everyone directly and indirectly. The shortage of affordable housing because of Airbnb type letting is an inner city problem.

Problem is EZJ faces problems from multiple sides.

Abroad. Locals are protesting at tourists to go home, they want fewer tourists. That would dissuade some tourists, especially families, from visiting those countries.
Potential Middle East war. Some tourists would avoid going anywhere near Middle East due to potential conflict. This could include tourism in Turkey/Greece etc.

Within UK. Several countries have issued travel warnings for people travelling to the UK. The rioting in UK would stop tourists from coming to UK. Look at Belfast, continuous rioting daily. The rioting is happening at dozens of cities. That would dissuade tourists, especially families, from traveling to the UK

Both of these are happening in high season, EZJ's busiest month, August.

Soon kids will be back at school and season over.

I will look at buying once I believe these points are factored in.

Not just that but they raised the holidays expectation by £10m. I think that builds in an amount of cancellations. Every trouble free day is £9m profit

The market can do what it likes for whatever reason but ultimately when results show a record summer the price is going to look skinny.

I ain't going to argue with the market action.. For the moment the bears are in control.

June interim turnover was best ever (and by some margin) which portends well for the full year.

I think it is very difficult to extrapolate anything from one data point (one 3rd hand report of a bad hotel... twas ever thus surely) .

They are selling package holidays hand over fist that is all that I can see. And they intimate they are going to have a record year. That is enough for me.

Phil not my experience at all. We used to have Jet2 at our hotels and issues raised were 2 days old or more. The reps are useless and there to sell excursions. Booking an easyJet holiday is like booking privately. The hotel takes much more notice than a package where the rep deals with the client.
This is an alternative to the DIY holiday which is by far the largest sector. They are not looking to replace the hi-di+hi brigade which are the lowest form of client for the hotelier.
Soon easyjet will be the largest provider. The hotel can see no difference between the private clients and the package travellers.

Trying, you are right to some degree.

Sapphire, EJ Hols, may end up learning on the wrong side of the curve.

My daughter has booked with them once as a family of 6, she said they won't book a holiday again with them, due to the lack of support at the hotel via no rep. The hotel were not interested!

Hence a lost customer

It's important to understand that the easyJet holidays platform is a place for hoteliers to match availability with guests. It's a place for easyJet to sell flights including the extras to those wanting to buy everything in one place. Easyjet make around €10 a night on top of the flight price in the cases that I have reviewed
Next year I expect all the major hotels on the strip to be on the platform and many smaller places currently on Airbnb.
Literally easyjet holidays has turned the industry upside down. Now it's the hotel who are proactive but on very specific dates to fit their needs.
The whole concept is genius.

Indeed no easyJet rep so problems are bought immediately to the attention of the hotel. If the hotel has issues then they need to be addressed with the hotel. Easyjet sell the package but the hotel are still responsible for what happens on the stay.
The hotels are the same that you would book by other means. It's very easy to check them out before booking. It's important to be diligent and to take nothing for granted.
The queues are created because the UK are out of Schengen. The majority voted for that based on the lies told by the chuckle brothers F&J. The UK citizens are now invited to holiday in the UK.

Sapphire..
You harp on about EJ hols.
One of my offspring has just returned from Tenerife, I previously stated about the queue/wait of 2 1/2 hrs at Tenerife airport.

Well she has told me no EJ rep as expected, no one to bring problems to about the hotel. Whereas Jet 2 had a rep and sorted out other guest holidays, even having guests moved to other accommodation.
My daughter said that on their balcony was scaffolding the floor full of rubble. They could not use the balcony and had builders walking past the window as and when.
They had been missing informed by EJ Hols that the building works was opposite, with no mention of work at their accommodation.

These are the events they will have to deal with

It's very easy just to extend the trend. If it were that easy we would all be millionaires.
The share price has no relevance to the progress of the company. Easyjet isn't the only share to go down but it's one of the few that are going through a massive growth phase.
Final results will give more support but if those who control the market push it down that's the way it is. Small investors like us have no influence.

Mano300, on the 23rd December 2023 you predicted Easyjet would be £8 or £9 by spring 2024.
Do you expect anyone to give any credence to your sub £4 comment??

I can see it going above £5 very soon and beyond to the £6-7 it should be now.
In the meantime anything can happen and I don't much care but ultimately the facts of the commercial opportunity can't be ignored

kind of bonkers here.

turnover last year was already best ever by some margin.

2023 turnover 8.17 billion
2019 turnover 6.38 billion (2019 previous best turnover)

turnover and profits all expected to beat last years numbers.

yet the shares languish 65-70% off highs.

Bargain

Sapphire, the price of jet fuel crashing last week means little when EZY committed to buy it at higher prices. It hugely weakened the position compared to ryanair who will be seeing the before today.

Over the last week we have seen the strike dates for Portugal made public, A1 price has crashed and easyJet had very few disruptions.
The share price should be much higher based on the commercial opportunity but that's not what's driving it. I stick with the facts. The share price is another thing and of less interest to me at the moment. Delivering summer is the job at hand

On a day like today investors have to ask themselves whether anything has fundamentally changed about this company.

Apart from the fact that the oil price has gone down (beneficial) you would have to say "No".

It is just much cheaper than it was yesterday.
