11/7/2023 07:49 | Its not just Easyjet cancelling. BA are cancelling lots of European and US flights via Heathrow. What's interesting with BA they cancel what was originally the expensive flight in comparison to alternatives and then cancel that full flight and offer the cheaper alternative with no refund of the difference. Im also aware BA are altering direct Atlantic flights to two stops via Dubin with approx 24hrs notice and yet not refunding customers of the cost difference. How to hike your profit and sacrifice your customers!Imagine paying full price for a rolls Royce and presented with a secondhand Ford Escort! Allegedly thats a similar trend in the airline industry. | 18bells
11/7/2023 06:46 | Jet2 don't fly from Gatwick | iandippie
11/7/2023 06:44 | Read the news. The problem is mainly due to air traffic control staffing issues at Gatwick. The short answer to your question is that Jet2 do NOT fly to or from Gatwick. I doubt 1700 easyjet flights were affected yesterday. Moreover, i guess they must be taking a long term view and taken a decision to move future customers to alternative flights that don't use Gatwick? Makes sense to me. Not ideal, but I'd rather that as a customer than being booted off a plane because the flight had missed the slot and the checks on the plane had then expired. (Again, read the news). | iandippie
10/7/2023 20:36 | 1700 not 17000 and l’ll ask again, how is it that jet2 never cancel a flight yet easy cancel 1700? What a shambles | scottish007
10/7/2023 19:32 | It's easyJet who have cancelled 17000 flights due to air traffic control strikes over Europe. | holly1000

10/7/2023 11:10 | Furious easyJet passengers were told their flight home was cancelled while they were waiting to take-off as the airline battles with thousands of cancellations and delays from its main Gatwick base. The airline announced it had axed 1,700 flights during the peak summer months as it grappled with 'unprecedented' air traffic control delays, causing huge travel disruption to thousands of holidaymakers. Among those to be hit by last minute cancellations is Andy Samu, who was due to fly from London Gatwick from Budapest last night before the captain announced it would not be going ahead as they sat on the tarmac ready for take-off. Mr Samu told MailOnline that the flight was held up due to air traffic control but the delay meant the aircraft's security check had expired and they had to disembark, forcing passengers to stay in hotels until another flight could be found. Around 180,000 passengers have had their flights scheduled for July, August and September grounded as a result of 'unprecedented' air-traffic control delays. | bartyb
