Everybody thinks funeral directors are making a fortune but its not as simple as it seems - any venture in any industry or market can be ill conceived or flawed and I guess profits are not going to be that high if at all next time as they expand wildly

Take a look, have a read, discover that they have NAV 11.3p per share - this is even stated by the Directors.

Up 11% pre-market to 7.25p.

Expect a massive surge of this tiny microcap (£0.85m) today.

50% gain is very possible even with small buying.

Maybe I should go on PremBB; I actually got a thread started against me on Countryside Properties CYD which I think is still there.
I had the temerity to suggest that CYD or Misys would be a better bet than CMS Webview and other stocks these people ramp small caps (many are chosen as a BB could raise the price?). I was told to stick my "boring old countryside" I announced I had bought more at 193p the other week and by the end of the week they were 275p and this and my subsequent success on LTS where I turned out to buy on the same day/price/quantity as a non-exec there has just got backs up.
My "success" has become an issue and it is like being the brainy kid at school who deserves to be beaten!!! After I had been dubbed in this thread they started as the "stupidest user on ADVFN" I think it is still up on CYD

Upstairs in the PremBB, where I sometimes linger, the under-50s are in a minority. It is a bit like a Saga members club ;-)

Down here one does have to take care not to tread on the children as they skateboard around ones knees, yelping and swearing. But not many of them venture in the direction of funeral stocks bless 'em.

MTG Thank you what a nice post & no disrespect intended, most of the posters on here I think are under 50 from their general attitudes; ramping use of mobile phone text message lingo etc but of course you never can tell.
I suppose tho' I would say that while you want a cardboard box for yourself the money is made from the big occasions no expense spared MUM DAD LOVING SON emblems of roses on the coffins often paid for by poorer families who spens masses on weddings & funerals. They will not be impressed by cheapo coffins.
I can remember organising the funeral of a senior clergyman who had your attitude but the undertaker implied for such a distinguished person only the cast oak coffin would surely do and was amazed when we said a cardboard box was what he really wanted but we just wanted THE CHEAPEST.
But neither us/he/or you are the typical punters most want "only the best for uncle john" etc ? Certainly a lot do

"...The over 50s are often a bit tight and prone to moans.."

Oi, you! Let's have a bit more respect please.

Anyway, I don't want money wasted on brass handles which the funeral folk quickly unscrew and pocket once beyond the curtain. Rope handles on a cardboard box will do fine thanks. I don't even mind Tesco or whoever advertising on the side of it if that mecks it a bit cheaper and brings a few last-minute clubcard points.

Yes but SAGA has been around for ages as their Folkestone HQ shows. The over 50s are often a bit tight and prone to moans and they offer such a range of services but apart from the Co-Op there is no competition to this one.
However does anyone have any stats on the public companies running Funeral Empires in North America. Is it always profitable? How good a service do Dignity provide? Has anybody been into 1 of their offices and pretended to have a dead relative? I must say I saw the Dignity director on TV after the results going on about importing plastic coffin handles from China and thought.......ooops thats something you do quietly and reflect on in the boardroom & balance sheet??? A very good line for the local rivals to quote. I've noticed the other funeral directors are insisting all Dignity offices make clear they are "Part of Dignity plc"

Well I bought these as a long term hold and whilst the short term gains are nice, nothing has changed my opinion.

Incidentally, I see SAGA are looking at a possible floatation - a great "grey pound" business. I am saving up my pennies for this one - so I can be "vertically integrated" with my Dignity holding!!

Limousine - It would be very handy if you could paste the company's corporate website link (see post 64) into the header post please.

That is what I thought/hoped they were doing.
It is hard to see a downside to this one, unless they just become unprofitable.
There is no substantial selling activity and if they came back with a rights issue the existing holders would bite their hands off.
Worst case may be a takeover for cash too cheap eg £3.30 before the thing gets into fullest swing and the existing shareholders really get rich.
