write up in i.c. says sell last week, aparently during a down turn bank notes change hands less frequently and so dont wear out as often, so they could be hit by the downturn. good set of results tho,

Im short from £9
Long @ £8

Resistance should be @ £9.10- £9.25 looking at chart cant see it breaking it myself, but time will tell

How can they go wrong, the one area that isnt in decline is the requirement to print bank notes !!!

sorry didn't read the smallprint as I sold mine at 921p last week (wanted to avoid the capital return). Will look to re-enter when it's out the way.

A bit unlikely WJCCGHCC.

The share price will remain broadly the same if it is close to 850 at close on Friday
Here are my calculations

DE LA RUE B shares.
You have 2 options
1. A single dividend of 305p
2. JPMorgan purchase at 305p
Or a combination of the two options

This is how I calculate the base cost of the B share issue for CGT purposes.

Say you bought 1000 shares at 741.5p (the 52 week low), the base cost is
([741.5 + 0.5%] x 1000) + dealing cost (£10?) = £7462 or 746.2p per share

35.9% of the base cost is allocated to the B shares.
(1-(25/39)) x 746.2 = 267.9p

Therefore the Capital Gain on B shares purchase offer is
(305 – 267.9) x 1000 / 100 = £371

CGT liability £371 * 18% = £66.78

If you take the B share single dividend option for the Capital Return (£3050) you will have to pay 25% tax (£762.50) assuming you are a higher rate tax payer.
The maximum tax on dividends is 32.5% and the dividend received has a 10% tax credit.

The Ordinary shares are consolidated 25 for 39 so the 64.1% of the remaining base cost 478.3p is calculated back to 746.2p (to be used as the base cost for future CGT calcs)

478.3 x 39 / 25 = 746.1

You would after the Capital Return hold 641 New shares.

ydderF - 6 Jul'08 - 538 of 543: its going down - the market says so, and prospects for UK plc say so, I say so and the city says so......although there are a couple of penny punters here in clear disagreement......i will say no more and let the market price be eloquent for me

ydderF - 8 Jul'08 - 540 of 543: Down again, the market is more intelligent than the positivistas here.....I am right so far, and you are wrong - repent!

ydderF - 11 Jul'08 - 543 of 543: imho dimwits like you shouldn't be trusted with their (note spelling - and also note that writing 'there' when you mean 'they're' is a litmus test for thickness) own investment decisions, since the taxpayers have to fund your stupidity in due course with dhss payments...

ydderF - 2 Aug'08 - 552 of 562: you really owe your dwindling band of followers a proper explanation for your gamble in this dud my friend

crookers, it might help if you get a chart posted up of CTT from 110p and dela rue when u bought 'em at 910p.....a bit embarrassing i know, but it will help us both keep an eye on the divergence between genius and gormlessness....?

It's a bit volatile here today.

Director sales yesterday "vesting and release of allocations under deferred bonus and matching share plan".

More today causing this drop?
