08/2/2002 08:42 | To Smoke Trader - we all have bad days - wouldn't be human if we didn't. Like Danka, you'll recover. all the best | votiem
08/2/2002 08:23 | SmokeTrader, The market is just crazy (not DNK), the most significant indicator of economic recovery which is the jobless claims improvement, also had been ignored. Market just concerns over accounting standards and quality of earnings, in which companies with complex accounting methods have especially come under the gun. Why, Danka with simple (one of very simplest, I guess) accounting methods had also been gunned down? This is just a matter of time until big companies finish reporting their earnings, in theory. FSA must take action & analysts (especially brokers) must refresh the situation or people will pause trading for a while and brokers can't make money when we stop selling & buying. Two paragaph below is from CBS. Good economic news continued to pour in: jobless claims fell 15,000 in the latest week to 376,000 -- the fifth straight week of sub-400,000 readings. The four-week claims average also fell, lending additional credence to the view that the brunt of the layoffs have occurred and that the job market is now stabilizing. "Investors are fearful and risk-averse right now, seeing bad news around every corner, and ignoring good news that is slowly raising its profile. I don't think investors will be able to ignore for much longer the signs of an improving economy and the prospect of improving earnings later in the year," maintained John Forelli, senior vice president and portfolio manager at Independence Investment. | oaklandsway
08/2/2002 08:09 | 4 on bid 1 on offer - they want your stock. | webley
07/2/2002 23:25 | I must definitely agree with oaklandsway on this one. If you are into Danka medium-term, the swings will be incredible but the uptrend continues. Went down to 33p, just to recover to 50p one week later. Down to around 37p tomorrow, will probably move towards 60p next time around. | erdmanski
07/2/2002 23:22 | Never think for "stop loss" on DNK, please unless you need cash for something else. Read again the latest earning result. Bad market, everything in red. | oaklandsway
07/2/2002 21:27 | Picaroon, This guy sold his stock with profit, now he is looking to bit the stock so he can get it cheap again. I know what's in your mind!! | 357aman
07/2/2002 21:11 | Erdmanski - yes it will probably be marked down a bit at first. I wouldn't bet on a recovery on Nasdaq - volume is starting to drop dramatically. My guess is that it will drop from here, obviously with the odd rally. My target price is around 20p in due course because nothing has really changed. The IC had a sell rating on the share when it was much lower in December. I think it is a screaming short for the reasons given above. | picaroon
07/2/2002 20:47 | Picaroon - Will probably be heavily marked down for tomorrow's trading, wouldn't you agree? We're looking at 36p on the FTSE opening bell IMHO, hopefully a recovery will be staged afternoon followed by the US (as two weeks ago). | erdmanski
07/2/2002 20:41 | Down again on Nasdaq (-13%) with 20 minutes to go. Entirely predictable. | picaroon
07/2/2002 18:53 | It's not unusual, I agree, but there are so many prior claims on danka's profits and cashflow that I believe shareholders will never see a return - particularly given the declining market. | picaroon
07/2/2002 18:43 | It is not unusual for a company to pay to have to pay for converible participating shares or for bank debt.... The main issue is whether the company can meet its obligations...the recent return to profitabilty shows that it can. I guess that is why the directors have been buying.... | forfaiter
07/2/2002 18:30 | To forfaiter: I'm not talking about the 6.75 sub notes. I'm talking about the 6.5% convertible participating shares - see annual report. This is getting interesting as a serious shorting proposition. Might go short on Nasdaq tonight. | picaroon
07/2/2002 18:29 | imagine having a trailing stop-loss with this share , mms must be rakin it in | conc2
07/2/2002 18:26 | The company does not have a p/e of 1. The figure of 43.8p earnings per share includes a one off profit from the sale of its subsidiary to Kodak which will not be repeated. If you exclude all exceptional credits the company made a LOSS for the 9 months! This is a basic misunderstanding of accounting. Sorry but it's the truth. It's what happens when people just take the headline figures and don't look beneath them. | picaroon |
