phook, yep hell of a day for danka to release results. However as previously posted as it dropping due to the rest of the market and nothing wrong with the company itself it will recover, and I believe will present us with a golden oppo to top up on monday when the MM's mark down to keep inline with the states.

nice.

Also right the states is dropping on jobs concern (as well as disney, aol etc) but the masses havn't twigged that no one gets employed during July and august?

But short sighted I'd say. I say the bears are just looking exploit any bad news.

There always a mad rush to get people in after the summer hols in sept oct.

short term blip imo as the results season is near enough at the end.

Proticker,
You are correct, the debt reduction alone will have a very positive affect on earnings. With total debt now down to 258.1M
and Danka reducing it about 50M each quarter, the debt should be gone in about a year.

The reduction of this debt would eliminate interest expense that was 7.4M in the current earnings release. This decrease in interest alone would add about 30M per year toward net income wich would equate to about $.50 per share. In addition Danka should trade at a much higher p/e multiple than other stocks due to not having any debt.

The interest savings of $.50/ share at a 20 p/e ratio would equate to a $10 stock price just by itself.

guys, what the yahoo link for the us pls.

Well a bounce from the US should hopefully see us finishing above $3, but in lieu of the market today as long as it finishes above $2.75 the weekend press and the bargin price that will be presented on monday am will mean the uk should lead the way.....

all good for us imo.

Long-Term Sentiment: Strong Buy 08/02/02 12:31 pm

IThe stock has now gone up about 50% from what I'm calling "2" the end of last week to what I'm calling "3" right now. That's a hefty percentage rise in a short period and "traders" likely have taken some profits after initial reaction today when it hit the 3.20's.

The results were good - revenues down about 10% sequentially is in line with what I expected, margins were good and the stock was priced much better for this earnings than last.
Same as Ikon and, to a lesser extent, Xerox.

The next big news we should be looking for is a refinance announcement. Quite frankly, that might be bigger news short to intermediate than earnings were. This just confirmed that the compnay is doing a good job of managing itself, therefore it should be a more than a three dollar stock going forward until the next news.

For long-term longs, the next 2-3 quarters will be key as revenues should begin showing a stabilization, new growth initiatives should be more evident, Oracle should be well in place and benefits of debt reduction (and, hopefully, new financing) will also be seen.

This continues the pattern that I saw when I first invested as a long term strong buy.

Oaks,

Well, at last we have a clean set of results that the analysts can get their teeth into and people can understand. Helps build confidence and confidence builds ........ sheeeeit why I'm prattling to the converted......

A few points that caught my eye in the results which are worthy of someone asking the question at the conference call:

1. Retail equipment sales down much more than expected - -20% from 2002 1st and 17% from 4th Qtr ?????? 9/11 ?????? could be but someone had better say it was that. Gross profit margin hardly moved.
2. Service and rental down less than expected and margin held up well, however this is the dying part of the business.
3. Overall, gross profit down £6m due to volume decrease.
4. Admin costs down a whopping £11m. Thats where the extra profit came from, but are they relying on their new system and taken their legs (reps) out from under themselves ??
5. Us and UK tax differences due to different SSAP's, BUUUUTTT...
6. How can they have a credit to the P&L on the financial cost of participating shares in the UK (£3,708K) and a cost in the US (US$4,393K). This is the main difference between the reported eps of 3.2p and US cents 2.

Any ideas ?, as I think they have some explaining to do and it should have been in the notes to the accounts but was not.

I also note that they have taken the opportunity of increasing the options to staff by 7.5M shares to 8.7M from June 2001 and 6.6M from March 2002. They obviously expect good things to come.

Nice rise today.Personally have no problem with investors taking profits, however, believe that share price has further to rise over the coming days.Long term recovery play with potential 4 to 5 plus bagger. As someone posted earlier "a no brainer" holding over the week-end.
