Absolutely no reason why meat buying cannot move online..like loads of other stuff. Probably need to be a min order size.

Mcmather, I suspect delivery will be nationwide via DPD direct to the customer doorstep and resemble something like this:

"All our meat is delivered in specially designed temperature-controlled boxes that stay chilled for up to 48 hours, guaranteeing you fresh produce every time."

Decent update.

The Spar trial sounds as if it will offset sales from the (due to be closed?) high street shops.

The internet route is interesting; does the "...we will be able to achieve this at relatively low cost" point towards using their current fleet (ie that deliver to the shops) of vehicles / drivers? If this is more than just for "Givendale British beef range of high-quality cuts at market leading prices" I can see it being popular but not "relatively low cost"?

very nice movement so far, this strategy looks in-depth well thought out and a breath of fresh air!
Unsure how 3 million cash will pull it all off but at least Jim is fighting here.

You can’t disagree with this…

The new management team have undertaken a strategic review of Crawshaw and have identified what they consider to be the key issues affecting the business; previously expanding the Group too quickly, not addressing the decline in High Street store performance, and over investment in certain areas of labour in the Group impacting on store standards and labour scheduling.

I love the honesty

The naysayers (who only stated the nay at 3p and not 100p) are not going to be liking this, spa deal/online shopping new factory stores.
Great work Jim...

Some good progress being made here especially with the introduction of the Givendale ecommerce sales channel and the distribution agreement with Spar sounds exciting if the margins are worthwhile and to be completely honest for a bloke here only two months before year end this programme to restore growth and profitability is impressive.

It was lovely to see WF Burtons highlighted as they are a little gem in our business.

"The new CEO has given up a lucrative job"

Err... being sacked because of expense fiddling perhaps more accurate!

It’s easy to sling mud. This forum just seems a place for trolls to let off steam. The new CEO has given up a lucrative job to try to turn Crawshaws round. He is working round the clock to raise standards and save jobs and trying a variety of tactics. I buy meat there and it has always been tasty and good value.

I don’t know why this is a surprise, without the facility of a food to go counter waste is always going to be a huge issue on short dated items that are coming in. Russell Hume case in the making!

Oh dear, are they still dropping meat on the floor here. What a disaster. This was a decent business once.

They should perhaps reply to her in a straightforward fashion suggesting a meeting with the CEO to discuss her concerns. This way everyone can see she is being treated fairly and her issues taken seriously.

I checked the account of the FB poster, and it's not a fake one, she's either stupid and willing to take a potential libel case or worryingly, it's true.

The other one I checked stated the store had gone downhill over the past year re. quality, in essence that's about the time scale - give or take - that 2S starting feeding stock into CRAW.

This is the review

"As someone who used to work here, the quality of the meat is appalling, I’d rather eat something off the floor than their meat, oh wait...most of it has been on the floor, on multiple occasions I have witnessed meat being dropped on the floor and then put back on the shelf to be sold.
All their meat that is seasoned is old, going dark and starting to smell hence why they season it to hide what is really underneath, their own made meat balls, made in store are also old meat, which they don’t want to waste through fear of not making enough money so they mince it, make it into meat balls and season it.
Also a few occasions there had been tumours and cysts found in the pork, they just cut them out and put the rest on the shelf, these are just a few of the reasons why I left Crawshaws York, enjoy your meat folks"
