no point blaming the food safety team - they can be the very best in the world, but what do they do? produce audit findings - pass the requirements to the shop manager/area manager who are responsible for implementing the findings. Not the job of the food safety team. So getting new food safety team means didly squat!! Change the manager culture, then change happens

Remember, the food safety team look for the problems, tell the management (job done)....management, senior management then take accountability for improving food safety, not the food safety team, granted the policies and procedures have to be right but I did not see any problem with those

operational I could understand but ...accounts clerks I can't see the reason for them leaving, perhaps jobs in Rotherham are more plentiful than is normally thought!

The shareholders should have been pressing down hard on this situation at the end of year 1, so people need to look hard at themselves - an ex employee has walked away with £1m for 3 years of declining sales, not good!

Yes you are quite right.
The fool was the chairmen who recruited him, that Chairman has now gone rightly so, and also the non execs of that period have gone, And my understanding is the new CEO is on nothing like NC was but is rewarded if he grows the EPS which will drive the share price.

I have no loyalty toward NC, but if you are paid £1m for 3 years work without a probationary 1 year performance clause for a company with a starting base of 20 branches in 2015yr, who is the clown?... I am afraid not NC, he received the remuneration to cover salary and hotel for a 4 days a week in Rotherham, I say nice work if you can get it! The question is who recruited him and why were conditions not put in place to control the risk of poor performance

This was a working business not that long ago before they employed a clown to run it. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

1iniesta, very true and well put. Trouble being there are not enough people with those talents to go around. Barnsley was blessed but they did not have the support from above, consequently they have gone/going.

It's very very simple, once a team of people either lose their passion or simply haven't got the tools in their locker to turn this business around things like staff leaving and stores closing become pluses and are viewed as positive, people can only react to what they can react to based on their skill set, this will result in cutting more and more and I don't mean the meat until eventually you end up in a position where by even if you wanted to take the money you physically can't, other results to cutting is low staff moral and filthy stores. It takes such a special person to push the other way day in day out full availability, amazing service, sampling, selling up, motivating, driving and converting footfall into sales, the issue is you need that special someone in every single store to turn this around every store from open to close.

When I worked for the company, all the people who NC brought in have now left, so there isn't any 'still there'. To say that there are people there who thought NC was great, isn't the truth. If sales are still down it isn't about flushing out the old crowd, it is about having the right people, the right strategy. I have said it before, if the new CEO is of the right calibre, then there is hope, so forget about the old crowd still being in the company, they have all gone. Weather and footfall is significant.

The story should be moving with positive results and not about excuses now, so why is it? is JV tenure still in the honeymoon? 8 weeks is still a short amount of time for his tenure, lets look at it in 6 months

What exactly are you expecting to be delivered?? Profits??? Your totally deluded this business will never show a profit it's just to dependant on the people, people they just can't attract people they are happy to lose people they haven't got and for that reason "good people" and that reason alone the business will consistently fail whilst consistently give you all the reasons along the way "weather" "world cup" "tough high street conditions" "Noel Collett " "Alan Richardson" "bre it" and on and on and on

@ 1iniesta,

I can understand that as the new team come in the old ones who worked and though Noel Collett was great will decide to leave, but for shareholders Collett simply didn't deliver. So the area manager of Collett's that has just gone. Great.
