Mrs s1zematers traveled to see a friend in Yorkshire and I asked her to go into a Crawshaw and see if anything looked nice for moi.

Well on her return she came back with three packets (each one containing 4). bone-in whole breast chicken Kievs for a £2.50 each or three packs for £6!! REALLY -16 boned in chicken kievs for a £6?
The only place I can usually get these from are Waitrose at that price for just 2... So I presume it's surplus stock from an order from 2sisters???

Also, she had two 1800g thin cut coconut chicken breasts fillets that cost £8 for the pair.

3.6 KG of chicken breast for £8????

anyway thought this will be dog food, and it really was quite nice, excellent for barbeque and again surplus run stock from a supermarket order I presume?

6 rump steaks for £8 also, which were pre-sealed in 2's . Again really nice.

Unless I am missing something here these are unbelievable bargains and show the days of Brexit hating Lidl boy have gone forever?

Lovely to see this bounce higher although from a low base and perhaps in anticipation of next month’s results. The weather has been our friend so hopefully that will translate into stronger sales.

The market stall has been looking very sad recently, in fact the worst stall in the market. The three girls that left recently were quite right in leaving and when they left the place just 'fell apart'
'Barnsley Meat Company' yes you remember correctly.

BBQ season and we all have to eat, in times of lower spending sales pick up at lower cost lower priced operators.

Optimistic - I worked for the company so knew what potential it did have. I strongly believe it has a strong position on the high street, despite the high street challenges if things are now done right. For me that is res-structure both salaries and staffing. Until the end of last year it was out of control, seriously out of control! and the culture fit at at head office was wrong among the senior leadership team. If was like down to earth, pie and a pint type of people trying to engage and work with people who liked caviar for breakfast and talk shop for lunch, just a bad culture fit.

If the company remembers what it did pre- NC this company has a bright future, Weatherspoons often reminds me how Crawshaws used to be, value for money, good customer service, great choice, great deals and attractive prices and staff with high moral and dedication - what a fantastic model to benchmark against.

Playful, thanks for your post, particularly the paragraph "Thankfully the new man is much improved" I do hope that is the case as I have a substantial amount of money invested in this company

Pophead, my earlier post was taken from his interview with the YP and the irony of it all in reply to 1iniesta.

I told NC in person half way into his tenure that in my opinion he was not a good fit for the business and that KB would have done a far better job!

As small investors we are powerless and trust in good stewardship from those responsible.

If you read this thread from the point NC was appointed, you will get a flavor of events and efforts made to correct our trajectory and anyone who attended AGMs will know things were said, but that’s all we could do.

Thankfully the new man is much improved, so we can put NC behind us and move on.
