Bit of a write-up on Master Investor FWIW:

--

Coral Products (LON:CRU) – £13m cap and over £8m of cash making over £1m pre-tax
The interim results to end October saw a near 58% rise in sales at £7.1m and an underlying pre-exceptionals operating profit of £0.76m, worth 0.81p per share in earnings.

That will be enough to cover the 0.5p interim dividend, which is due to be paid this coming Friday.

Market capitalisation is under £13m, while its end period cash balance after spending over £0.5m on share buybacks was a very handsome £4.8m. That figure has subsequently been boosted, after the recent property sale, by another £3.5m.

I reckon that this plastic products group will do a lot better than the £1m market expectations in the current year to the end of April 2022.

Its shares touched 16.4p on Monday after the news. Now at 15.75p they really do offer some very encouraging upside.

I am very confident in my goal being reached.

(Profile 28.04.21 @ 14p set a Target Price of 18p)

At least this is a safe haven in a turbulent market and one of the few that is holding its own.

Happy Holidays to you too charo - your taking a well earned rest early I assume, and looking forward to enjoying the dividend.

I'll make you chuckle though - this time I would have been better keeping my holding in CRU - as since the market has slipped last week, I am down on my gains here by around 15% with just one winner MUL in the current market.

Still well up on the year though.

Good Luck.

LOL charo - At least JG gets a great pay day and rather than having to buy shares in the company and can use the dividend to enjoy himself after such a lean period.

Though the tax man will take his share.

It has often not looked like a safe investment on several occasions since JGs arrival & our recent low of around 5p presented an extremely high risk buying opportunity for those with large cohinas.
Currently "safer" than it has ever been with view to our bank balance & 6%+ yield (assuming we maintain or grow profits at expected FY22 levels.
JG has tried to take a back seat on 2 or 3 occasions but has had to return due to difficulties that Cru found itself in.As he is in his mid 70s I would have thought that once he is happy that stability & growth has been achieved that he wants to take a back seat for the longer term & take a decent yield on his investment-or ,if he is unsure of achieving that he will need to ensure a decent exit for himself & his family.

Yes charo JG rescued the company in 2011 if I recall correctly, and purchased shares from Peter Gyllenhammer for 10p I think, and I think later that year raised money at 15p - since then the shares have been up to around 26p and down under 5p more recently.

So ten years and although the business is in much better shape now, the share price is little better than the 15p that funds were raised in 2011.

So, unless you have ridden the slow roller coaster successfully for ten years - on and off, I think it's fair to say it has not been anything other than a safe investment, and if you take dividends into account, has performed marginally.

His school report should read - shows potential at times but is easily distracted but is an honest likeable fellow. :-)

No idea.Think we leave that to the people who have rescued this business, paid out substantial dividends, ending up with a substantially cash rich business with ongoing 1 million plus profits.

We all can see what the statement says charo but clarity is another matter, and as you have just pointed out there is payment of dividends to come out of the cash on 03.12.2021.

That aside, the real concern is what are they going to do with the cash?

Will it be used as effectively as the last purchase the company made?

The statement makes it clear the cash and cash equivalents,480K CASH PLUS 7OOK Treasury is before the receipt of 3.5 million property receipts ..
Nothing disengenious merely factual and underlining the fact that group has 9 million of cash available, before payment of around 750k of divs before 31st dec,to which we can add say 200k of cash generation november andd december.

No it does not charo :-)

It says "The cash receipt from the sale of the Haydock property of £3.5m will be recognised in the second half of the financial year"

Which is not the same thing as saying "The cash as of 29.11.2021 is £xxxxx."

Still, enough of nit-picking but I assume nothing.

The cash receipt of £3.5m will be recognised in the second half of the financial year.

At the same time, they could have stated what the current cash stands at. It should be around (31.10.2021)£4.8m + (19.11.2021)£3.5m plus shares held in treasury but is it?

Good results all the same, bearing in mind where the business was two years ago.

Oh dear, clocktower - you have given us an object lesson in how to make yourself look foolish.

You should have more faith in your fellow man - at the very least, it might prevent you from making such a chump of yourself in future.

No mark, because I knew that with the volumes that I guessed you had to trade with it might have undermined the share price if we had both been taking profits at the same time. So very well done. I will look for another opening here at some point, having traded it for many years. I sold a lot between 15/15.45p and as I said at the time, I hoped I was leaving a profit for others. Good luck with the rest, and may you do even better.

I look forward to the actual figures.

Plastics are not the "Green" thing to be in at present anyway, though I like ZTF and the new "greener" products they are having some success with. A well run outfit in my book.(427/435)

Hi CT,
Yes held and added all the way through the rise. In for the div too and but the 100k at 15.88 were mine to take some off table here. Plenty left though. Did you hang about too?

LOL - Well done holding onto these this time markth126

If that sell was held before the dividend, that is a top return at 15.88p plus 1p dividend to come for one trader/holder, who ever that maybe.

Beware of Oink oinks . :-)
