Today’s news will give the share price a shot in the arm, and should send the share price to 20p imo.

Great news BUT nothing in the RNS about the outlook for the next half or even quarter, which could be effected by the current energy issues and other factors.

However let’s look on the bright side and congratulate all at CRU.

Maybe all those containers are being filled with aid for Ukraine and weapons that hopefully will help to destroy Putin's Russian thugs and those cohorts that are in bed with them.

However, as regards CRU it was not until June last year that a TS was issued. Hopefully, there will be an update before then, in light of all the turmoil this year.

The cost of basic materials must have risen a lot though, plus transport costs, so there could be serious headwinds imo.

On a slightly different note, not very far from me there was a literal mountain of containers 10 high, 50 by 50. I believe there have been/are similar mountains elsewhere in the country. In the last 3 weeks they have all gone so they are definitely being used somewhere

All very quiet on the news front & no buy backs since January.JG remarked on 29/11/21 that we were well ahead of comparatives as at that date, despite poor performance by Global & continued issues with containers from China & increased transportation & energy costs are likely to continue adversely affecting that subisidiary, although JG was then optimistic of a second half recovery.Hopefully our other 2 subsids have continued trading well, despite increased energy costs & , presumably, inflationery factors re raw materials.
We should be very glad to have exited Mouldings & Haydock as the energy & raw materials costs there would have risen very substantially7 we remain cash rich.
Lets hope we dont receive an adverse pre results trading update although it is difficult to expect us not to have been affected by adverse headwinds

The cash pile is helping hold the share price up well, and today seems to be the first day of slight slippage of the sp, I guess this is due to what will undoubtedly be much higher costs of materials and energy plus transport costs.

Still, a good time to be sitting on a big cash pile, as it maybe able to buy another company that finds itself under pressure.

I wonder if the transport and energy costs are having any impact of profits. Does anyone know if CPL make any inner/outer containers for military weapons?

At long last the share price is on the rise but at what price will the sellers re-appear?

Just as an aside, I'm sure someone has done a little calculation. Income from Haydock less mortgage and other costs versus share buybacks savings. Maybe that's the calculation for the buybacks

Wait for the FY results that will be the big trigger for a re-rate. EV is ridiculous.

Only CPL had a performance related payment attached to it.

Great to hear that CP has done well since acquisition but with view to our only having 3 operating subsidiaries why not broaden the update to include confirmation regarding the other 2.We assume that TR continues to perform well but G Q-P was the drag on performance due to supply chain issues & the continued ill health of the MD.A new Director was recently appointed to G O-P & perhaps he is taking more responsibility in the absence of the MD but it would not have been difficult to confirm, especially as we are now almost 75% through FY22

It's done nothing for the share price though, so for all the positive sounds from all on the thread, it seems nobody has or wants to commit more cash to CRU at present, even bearing in mind the high dividend return.

It was nice to get a little good news this morning confirming that the acquisition of Customised Packaging Limited was a good buy.

With view to JGs age ,the process of taking Cru private ,then ,at some future date ,dismantling to achieve a superior return could take 2/3 years ,would involve substantial costs ,apart from tax implications -none of which guarantee a much higher net return & I am sure he will have a more subtle & cleaner plan to realise value .Our current share price is about 3X it’s recent low of about 5p so it could be that he is already halfway there ,if he hopes to achieve 30p before riding off into the sunset

He seems very prudent to me. Will only do an acquisition if the deal makes sense.

Another concern might be that management might try to take this private on the cheap. Whilst it's good they have a large stake that might be a precursor to a cheap MBO. I'm not sure which, if any, institutional investors are shareholders these days. It's an easy case for MBO as you have to ask whether a market listing is the best place for a company that consistently just makes 1-2m EBITDA a year

Not the best time to buy any successful business imo, as things can change rapidly in the current climate, of which Covid was just an example. Unless you find a business that you can and value too, through every avenue, including management cuts, chopping administration and sales teams, while increasing production and sales plus profits, then best wait until you find one that has debt problems but is in a recovery situation, so one can strike a fair bargain that keeps everyone onside.

Look at multi nationals such as Aptar,Berry,RPC IPL just as a pointer to the strength of the plastics market.
Change will come driven by legislation encouraging new plant based polymers which will still require formatting.
Future different but bright.
