16/3/2005 07:40 | Results from nowhere - and excellent too (if not quite DOQ's 95p EPS in the header!). Did you see this hidden away in the Balance Sheet section? "Since the year end, Pasir Bulk Carriers has sold one of its combination carriers of which our share of the profit will be approximately £2.5 million." Wow! The entire 2004 PBT was £20.2m - this means they've made an eighth of last year's profit in one deal! Can this be true? If so, no wonder they've kept it well hidden - no point in trumpeting it too loudly and spoiling the surprise.... | rivaldo
16/3/2005 07:22 | yes very good, figis: Earnings per share 83.8p (now) 48.6p (2003) Also moving house I see: "During 2005 the principal operating company will move to new London headquarters at St Magnus House, near London Bridge. This will inevitably result in an additional capital spend over that incurred in a more usual year." | andrbea
16/3/2005 07:16 | Surprisingly the results are out and they are very good | figis
15/3/2005 18:12 | I had my doubts that a predator was eyeing CKN, as rumoured recently, but the downturn in BMS share price coupled with chunky buys in CKN .... you never know!!! | madskt
15/3/2005 17:47 | Yep, good to see the traditional four o'clock surge is still in place! The rise was pretty inevitable given that T trade buy of 19,865 shares at 922.5p. Could be set for another good day tomorrow. | rivaldo
15/3/2005 16:36 | and yet another late afternoon rise | daviemac
15/3/2005 12:36 | BDI down a bit, 27 to 4,741. But shipping reports say that VLCC rates are coming back up and the outlook is more optimistic. And it's interesting that CKN is up today despite a 15k sell earlier. Perhaps the two 10k's just reported were both buys. | rivaldo

14/3/2005 19:39 | I suspect the last 5k T trade was a buy from a couple of hours earlier hoovering up the sells, in which case it would seem the rise should continue. Still 17 days till results, so every reason to hope for the advance to carry on till then at the least - despite the phenomenal rise the shares are still only on a historic P/E of 12.6, per analysts' forecasts which should be beaten and are even before you take the cash mountain into account. And although VLCC rates are down at present, there's no reason to suppose that high rates won't continue for the next few years. With CKN's diversification a pullback wouldn't be such a problem anyway. | rivaldo
14/3/2005 15:54 | Willie -- They may well do -- my broker tipped these at 780p ddav: | ddav
14/3/2005 15:54 | Willie, I think there is a bit of upside still to come on CKN. I been here since they were 183p. There was an item in the Telegraph over the weekend which said that brokers were looking for consolidation in this sector. What do they mean by that? Would it mean takeovers etc? Still loving my Hornby shares even tho they look not so good short term | daviemac
14/3/2005 15:22 | Haha ddav we must stop meeting like this! Something for the PEP-Dont really know why I`m here as its all a bit late in the day. Maybe a little run into the results.....hope so. Wonder if CKN might contemplate a share split? | williemanjaro
14/3/2005 11:49 | Welcome Willie -- one of my favs. ddav: | ddav

14/3/2005 10:54 | Cambium you're everywhere and nowhere baby-that`s where you're at! I blame doubleorquits-if he had shown me more enthusiasm at £8, I would have nabbed them then!!Loser! Does anyone know when the results are-end of the month I believe? | williemanjaro
14/3/2005 10:51 | welcome willie | cambium
14/3/2005 10:48 | Either delayed buys out there or this is moving on pretty thin volumes this a.m. Doesn`t appear to be much of the old stock about-so pocketed a few :¬} | williemanjaro
14/3/2005 10:02 | BDI down 23 to 4,768 on Friday. But 2,150 shares bought at 920p just now - still plenty of demand at these levels and looking solid at new highs. | rivaldo
12/3/2005 10:29 | A snippet from today's Telegraph: "Elsewhere, there were new all-time highs in shipping stocks Braemar Seascope, up a further 10 to 423½p and Clarkson, 14 higher at 910½p. Dealers are hoping for consolidation in the sector." | rivaldo
