10/7/2008 21:00 | I wonder if its the bursting of the merger bubble for financial tiddlers? The FCAM saga today is worthy of study. CHES doesnt need a bid but that doesnt stop there being a bid premium in ths shares | chairman2
10/7/2008 18:35 | from the finals: "Whilst we have no direct exposure to troublesome credit instruments we are to some extent affected by stock market weakness as it reduces future projected earnings and affects policyholder sentiment." | kiwi2007

10/7/2008 16:56 | part of the problem is size. funds are running away from illiquid stocks. and if there are no small buyers - price collapses. | markie7
10/7/2008 16:14 | I believe the high divi funds hold a lot of these? Maybe a lot of PIs are capitulating and forcing funds to sell? | kiwi2007

10/7/2008 13:44 | I think you'll find people redeeming policies is in the insurers favour in the short term at least. they are hardly going to offer a surrender value that puts them at a loss compared to assumptions. Granted there may be a lack of income stream going forward. I ahve no idea why this has been hit so hard but it's made me nervous that I don't understand the situation. Currently holding on and tempted to add. | makingheaps
10/7/2008 13:01 | not really just general comments.CSN is affected by the markets. If markets are bad then the company will throw off less capital for us , so exceptional divis are threatened, maybe even divis themselves . Depends on the capital requirements that could be stretched if lots of people are redeeming policies. | robsy2
10/7/2008 11:29 | big fall today. any thoughts on what is going on? | markie7
02/7/2008 13:38 | I think its a) a sector thing - observable Ches moves on day in direction of other lifecos b) absences of buyers - I doubt if any major instirurion is buying anything and there are (I suspect) major net redemptions of unit trusts and Inv trusts who are big buyers of these for income | chairman2
02/7/2008 13:33 | richardly I agree, the volatility over recent days does seem rather worrying. If the general market continues to fall would this mean that future profitability would be affected? | bonzophil
01/7/2008 10:51 | This sort of volatility in this share seems to indicate there's something happening that, if you're long, is not a good sign? Ok maybe it's just being dragged down with financials in general - but I'm not so sure at this stage... any thoughts/info please? | richardly
