08/4/2019 17:07 | Well said !! | nortic 007
08/4/2019 16:48 | I'm done with this company. In all the years I've traded shares starting with BT when it was privatised I've never known a blue chip share like Centricaslowly sink into oblivion in slow motion like this . Conn's compensation of a 44% rise this year during such a time surely can't be justified. The rules by which his salary is calculated may say he should get that but he really shouldn't accept it . A decent man wouldn't. | mitchy
08/4/2019 16:35 | Just another excuse for the likes of Corbyn and the press and Ofgem to have a pop and can you blame them !!??I gesture of a freeze or a year without bonus would show some kind of sympathy for the cause. The press tomorrow will rip into him and rightly so...... what a disgrace!!!! | nortic 007
08/4/2019 16:28 | It's very disappointing especially after making all those people redundant which is never nice to see. As I've said earlier he (Conn) really doesn't know how the City works. It's like he's sticking to fingers up to them and the shareholders. If Conn was to resign you'd see 10p on the share price and that says it all !!!! | nortic 007
08/4/2019 16:23 | the great conn continues,a pay rise you couldn,t make it up. p45 overdue. | mroalan
08/4/2019 16:08 | Wait until the AGM !! He'll get a roasting !! | nortic 007
08/4/2019 16:04 | You look at the two-year share price graph at the top of the thread, then you see the headline "Centrica boss gets 44% pay rise after 'challenging year' and you think to yourself ... wtf? | value hound

08/4/2019 15:20 | Centrica Introduces Responsible Business Ambitions Out to 2030Source: PR Newswire (US)LONDON, April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Centrica plc, the international energy and services company with brands including British Gas, Bord Gáis Energy and Direct Energy, is introducing Responsible Business Ambitions out to 2030.The Ambitions set out 15 long-term goals, focused on four areas: customers; climate change; colleagues; and the communities in which Centrica operates.Regarding climate change mitigation, Centrica believes strongly in precautionary action and has set out clear goals to 2030, which are aligned to the Paris Agreement, in areas where it can make a real difference as a responsible energy and services company:Helping customers reduce their emissions by 25%, directly contributing 3% via its products and services, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of 2.5 million UK homes. In addition, Centrica's actions will indirectly reduce customer emissions through providing insight and influencing policy.Enabling a decarbonised energy system by delivering 7GW of flexible, distributed and low carbon technologies, which is comparable to more than 10% of the UK's current peak demand.Reducing Centrica's internal emissions by 35% in the ten years to 2025 and by 2030 demonstrate that we are on track with Paris, and develop a path to net zero by 2050.Centrica has already reduced its own emissions by 80% over the last decade and is a global leader in action and disclosure on climate change, having retained its A- rating with CDP which runs the global disclosure system that enables companies, cities, states and regions to measure and manage their environmental impacts.Iain Conn, Group Chief Executive, said: "Our Responsible Business Ambitions bring the company's purpose to life. We are, of course, here to satisfy the changing needs of our customers and to deliver long-term shareholder value. Together our Ambitions give meaning to the goal of 'helping you run your world in ever more sustainable ways.' We've been active in all of these areas for many years, and we wanted to bring them all together and set specific targets out to 2030 that will accelerate the positive impact we can have in society."Our Ambitions are not going to be easy, but it is the right thing for us to set challenging goals and they will help us deliver better long-term sustainable value for all our stakeholders."For more details about Centrica's Responsible Business Ambitions, watch Iain Conn's video at www.centrica.com/Amb | mitchy
08/4/2019 15:14 | By Oliver Griffin Centrica PLC (CNA.LN) Monday said Chief Executive Iain Conn's pay increased by 44% in 2018, even after the British Gas owner missing its adjusted earnings forecasts for the year. The FTSE 100-listed utilities company said Mr. Conn was paid 2.4 million pounds ($3.1 million) for 2018, compared with GBP1.7 million in 2017, a year when he didn't qualify for payments under the company's short-term incentive plan. Mr. Conn's pay is 72-times greater than the pay of an employee whose salary falls within the company's lower quartile, who typically earns GBP33,718 a year. The company also disclosed that Mr. Conn was paid GBP124,000 for his work as a nonexecutive director for BT Group PLC (BT.A.LN). In February, Centrica said its cash generation in 2019 will take a hit from the U.K.'s energy-price cap, lower volumes at its exploration and production business, and its nuclear operations. The company said it will cut between 1,500 and 2,000 jobs in a bid to generate GBP250 million in savings. Write to Oliver Griffin at oliver.griffin@dowjo | 338
08/4/2019 14:39 | What has become of this thread!!Stop worrying and pontificating about things that aren't important!! | nortic 007
08/4/2019 14:35 | Portside - I'm not too concerned about what you trade, would just like some consistency as your posts are contradicting. I know you retired at 50 and have plenty of money - I retired at 49 and am far from a loser i assure you, but I don't make a song and dance about it. | lostandconfused
08/4/2019 14:19 | I did sell before div last year because of tax I started to buy back at 123p and have been buying since on all dips , now have 137000 hope that helps but do not give a toss about some of you losing posters , get a life start backing dogs instead of shares nortic have only bought 6400 n4p not a big punt just that a punt | portside1
08/4/2019 14:10 | Discodave - it will do your head in trying to follow portside comments. Last year he was saying 'his mate in the city' said buy upto 186. Kept saying buy buy buy as he says now. He then sold out around 150 from memory. He wouldn't answer my questions about why he was selling after ramping. I'm always unsure of his motives. I'm long by the way (Avge 150) - opposite to you, but do consider my position is risky but worth holding for time being - hoping Conn manages to actually do something after 4 odd years. | lostandconfused
08/4/2019 13:57 | Good luck with your investment | nortic 007
