Looking at the carnage at the bottom end of the FTSE I find it hard to believe it finished up let alone 40 points. As Whatsup32 said earlier,we are in good company. Everything got a kicking today.

Hi wendsworth,You may be right, the following statement from the finals appears to be saying the sale is not complete - but it's a bit woolly and why over a year to complete?. Besides, I would assume in any case that this is already accounted for in their £500m divestment strategy. From the finals:"We continue to improve and simplify our portfolio of businesses, with non-core divestments and the ongoing Nuclear disposal process."

Mercer95 : Keep you chin up. I only hold CNA so don't have the same issues. However the key question is whether not there is real value in your investments. In the case of CNA there most definitely is. Just a question of time. It could well be shorter than you think .

I’m so sick of BREXIT, death by a thousand cuts,I’m in my Rocky mindset 🥊 taking a beating but still standing, all that’s changed is my big loss is bigger,I have no clue where the share price is going short term, I’ll take the dividend & wait it out.

DiscoDave 4 and whatup32 : I've checked out the company's corporate website and news releases and can find no trace of confirmation of asset sale. On 14th June 2018 centrica announced plans 'to sell it's 20% stake in eight British power plants by the end of 2020'. The company went on to say ...'we have had a number of people calling us saying they would be interested but we haven't started marketing it yet'.

Hence my broker's comments and 'the mutters in the gutters'?

Silence can be golden in such circumstances and could be an indicator as to why the dividend has not been cut.

wendsworth.

No it’s still up for sale . Not easy to dispose Nuclear as it requires government approval. Their partner in Nuclear EDF has shut down a few for emergency repairs and reactivation has been delayed . The fact that some reactors are not generating electricity is and will have effected bottom line.

I'm amazed at this shares price, back in 2005 when the Dividend was 8.4p (full year) the share price was trading at 220-225. Here we are paying 12.p (full year) dividend and the share price is 116? I'm stuck with a get out price of 170 so still long way to go for me. My point is if the Dividend is reduced from 12p to say 8p (1/3 cut) then in theory the share price shouldn't even be below 200 (based on history). Crazy how share prices are calculated on speculation and not facts.

Nortic 007 and Disco Dave4 : Thyanks for your further thought provoking comment. Understandably some holders are concerned by what appears to be a relentless 'slow death' . But that ain't going to happen. CNA is a quality stock . Medium term holders will be handsomely rewarded . SO...why the current trend ? Having been the holder of previous market undervalued companies , Pilkington comes to mind, I've witnessed their SP's being 'walked down' ...for an eventual bid. In Pilkington's case from the Japanese. At current market Cap of 6.5 billion..there is talk of the Chinese not merely buying the 20% stake in Nuclear Power for 1.8 billion but going for the full bid.If that occurs then expect Shell or even BP (Conn's former employer)to join the fray. In such circumstances my broker estimates a probable 50% premium on current share price As I understand it, although UK Government would be concerned by a Chines take-over,there is no 'golden share provision'. The government would doubtless use it's 'best endeavours' to 'encourage' either Shell or BP to enter the fray. I don't anticipate such corporate action until post ex-dividend ...which would probably facilitate a 150 to 160p bid. As ever ...we'll see !

From 10.16 after it jumped up to 116.55p it's been mostly selling. I think someone has programmed their metal micky toestimate a 110p target for cna. OR it's just me being throughy fed up with this pile of stinking poo. I've seen bouncier playdo then cna.So what if people are using more electricity now than in any other time in history and it's growing . The forces ofevil are strong and we are powerless to resist their awful might.WE'RE ALL DOOMED !!Good Luck.
