31/3/2019 21:11 | If they are 100kw cars a full charge would be approx 90kw as they never fully discharge. Say a full charge every two weeks that's 2340kw per year. 25m cars on the road would have a demand of 58500 GW. That's quite a lot and the current UK infrastructure cannot handle the extra demand. That's the problem with all this green energy stuff, years of neglect make it impossible. | gaffer73
31/3/2019 21:01 | That is why they want all homes fitted with smart meters they can make home owners switch to doing washing and other jobs at night that is the plan homes to have power turned off when shortage | portside1
31/3/2019 17:59 | Interesting to see how much extra electricity will be needed if cars go electric. A simple calculation could be made with simplifying assumptions, assuming 25m cars used for 300 hours per year. Each 100kw. Some expert knowledge required here but numbers will be huge. All of that energy used by cars being currently being provided from petrol/diesel, must be replaced by energy generated by power stations, probably gas fuelled power stations. I presume someone could get a Ph.D working out the extra Nox, Co2 produced by the power stations when providing electricity to charge batteries for cars. 'What a tangled web we weave'...... | careful
31/3/2019 17:18 | Comparing UK electricity generation in 2005 and 2016, demand fell by 28Twh (that's 28,000,000,000kwh), and has since fallen further. | strutt12
31/3/2019 11:55 | Corbyn is so out of touch he probably expects re nationalisation to cost nothing. | masterblaster
31/3/2019 11:50 | Martin Lewis has recommended BG. | mitchy
31/3/2019 11:49 | Just seen two adverts on tv for switching energy suppliers. I think BG margins are circa 3% . Who knows maybe they'll switch to BG ! | mitchy
31/3/2019 11:22 | It is obvious what will happen in the Brexit situation on Monday. I have it all worked out, also I know the future path of CNA shares. But I will not divulge, it will spoil your fun. | careful
31/3/2019 11:13 | Morning Dave. Any idea what the Brexit debacle is going to do to the market on Monday? I haven't got a clue. The pound seems totally unaffected by it. The old Bank of England head King said he thought job loses with a No Deal aren't inevitable. | mitchy
31/3/2019 10:15 | Morning mitchy,"If the dividend is maintained at 12p then we could see 130p - 150p"Could agree if they hit forecasts, but that's a big IF (a very very big IF IMO) then share price could see 130p, but 150p!!..........let' | discodave4
31/3/2019 09:23 | If the dividend is maintained at 12p then we could see 130p - 150p . With 2020 earnings forecast to increase. All that said looking at the graphs of other energy providers there is still room for more adjustment if that c*/$ Corbynkeeps using the re-nationalisation vote catcher 80's ticket . Though where he's going to magic the money to fund thatalong with all the other things he's going to spend our money on is a mystery that only he's knows.Perhaps we should start calling him the magician but only after he performs a trick . Until then I'mgoing to continue with the more accurate epithet c*#$ . | mitchy
31/3/2019 09:07 | Ps, edit debt level to maitain current dividend if between 2.5 and 3 Billion. Last results showed debt of 2.6 billion. | mitchy
31/3/2019 08:58 | Susieb - Good article from motley fool. The big question is over the eps and if a 2 p drop has already been factored in then we may be ok from here onwards.Conn has said he will maintain the current level if debt remains below 3.5 billion if memory serves. The sales he mentioned in the lastresults will be like a special dividend but ,of course , in Centricas case it will be used for maintaining the current level in my opinion.I'm in from 333p and 121.9p and seriously considered closing my positions last week but I think I'll at least hold and perhapsconsider adding. I'd really like to hear everybody's views because I really don't know anymore. Close Hold Add?Good Luck .Ps , it's a bit like one of those poker hands where the right play can be to fold call or raise . Every play seems to have merit. | mitchy

30/3/2019 18:36 | When it appears on Motley Fool radar it tends to drop another 10%...so that would bring it down to the round figure of 100p consideration...no doubt heavy 2 way action awaiting around 100p if it gets there which is very likely... | diku
