Missed this from yesterday...

"All major gold deposits have been discovered, Goldcorp chairman says"

"Gold produced from mines has gone up pretty steadily for 40 years,” Telfer tells the Financial Post. “Well, either this year it starts to go down, or next year it starts to go down, or it’s already going down... We're right at peak gold here."

Still flirting with this potential double top. A move on gold could do the trick

yep I think we called this pretty well, seeing as the gold mining companies usually rally before gold could signify that gold is going to finally breakout above $1360. time will tell

Any ideas where this bounce will take the share price? I would like to see it breach 1.70. Just hope it doesn't fizzle away too soon.

Q1 results as expected. Annual 580k oz f/c maintained. Expect share price to trade sideways until upward movement in gold price, if it ever happens. No new developments on court cases. Happy to continue holding.

"This Billionaire Has Put Half His Net Worth Into Gold"

Some big investors see warning signs ahead for markets but are holding their positions. Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris is taking action: He’s put half of his $5.7 billion net worth into gold.

He said in an interview Monday that he believes gold prices will rally further, reaching $1,800 per ounce from just above $1,300 now, while “overvalued” stock markets crash.

Brave call. Suspect it's the correct one as well myself.

Packing for a long holiday but will give my tuppence for the next month or so. Gold usually has a flat to slight upward May but usually first falls into the jobs report (May 4th) and rises thereafter. Full moon on Sunday portends a turn but has been hit and miss lately. CoTs are neutral in gold and bullish in silver (although less so than a week or two ago). Support around $1320 and the $1300. Strong support around $1275. Light resistance at $1330 and then super strong resistance at $1365. The more times it hits that, the better chances are it breaks through eventually. Still looking for a slow waffle from high $1200's to mid-$1300's until July.

Miners had a strong April relative to gold and CEY appears to have broken its downtrend. It may retest the downtrend to see if support holds or might just run from here. Very sterling dependent, I think. If miners continue their outperformance and GBP weakens further, we could see CEY run higher. Otherwise it should follow the rest of the miners.

My son has now completed his degree in Geology. I wonder if he fancies working in Egypt? ;-)
