j-m, i take it you've heard of future cruise deposits? Surprisingly many haven't, and they're worth about 400 dollars on a 14 night cruise. Plus the 250 dollar shareholder benefit. Better than a kick in the teeth.

Ours is 20/2 to 6/3, the follow on is 6/3 to 18/3 spain and portugal. QE, my favorite boat. I've heard people get amazing prices for follow on cruises when on board, but never done that myself, so i'll see what deals they are offering, if any. Of course it's a diminishing return, so has to be a lot cheaper for me to take it up.

Enjoy your trip, I bought and sold today, the present volatility is good for trading, will wait and see if there is another down day.

Pans, relaxed mask wearing on cunard now. Last week they dropped the requirement to wear masks for exercise or dancing. No 2 day test on return to the uk if jabbed 3 times, so that's a relief, and a much easier plf to complete.

Going to the canaries on Sunday, and going to try to book up on board the following cruise and stay on if they make it cheap enough.

Sold my ccl (apart from 100 each for the obc) a couple of days after you j-m, thought about buying back about now, but i'll bide my time for a lower price. Bit it's all guesswork as far as i can make out.

Can't wait for the queen anne to get sailing.

Out again, nice little trade. Panshanger, it's the future that counts, bookings at all time high in a decade, as occupancy % goings so will on board spending, it's a good investment

Winter season down in the Caribbean can't have gone particularly well Was hoping to do a cruise with Celebrity - but for me still too much hassle with testing arrangements including into US just 24 hours before departure and prior to embarkation and on board, allied to mandatory mask wearing inside except eating and drinking Have done 2 weeks in Punta Cana instead

Most pressing concern for Carnival once it turns a profit and/or cashflow positive will be to reduce its borrowings.

bofp QA calcs.

3k pax, av (guess) 1.7k pax pw = £5.1m pw

On board spend similar to fare so £5.1m

Total revenue £10m pw or £0.5bn pa.

So total cost of boat = 1 years revenue.

Costs, food £50pppw, £150kpw
crew, 2k@£40pd = £600kpw

Tot £38mpa

5% depreciation = £50mpa

Tot costs and dep £88m

Profit £420mpa.

But I'm not an accountant if you didn't guess.

The thing to try to predict are institutional views. Buys/sells from pis make fa difference here, but get in before insts decide to start building exposure and it's possible that there's a multi year bull run.

Just got to decide whether the latest news is the catalyst - certainly if insts do their dcfs and think in a couple of years ccl will be back to highly profitable again due to booking numbers up, then now is a great time to get in and hold.

Cunard now selling their new Queen Anne cruises - they'll go for a premium in a brand new half billion quid ship.

Never get in at the bottom or out at the top when trading, happy with my strategy, will sit tight and wait for another downturn if it happens.

We are all retrospective millionaires!

If you're trading with time constraints, the odds are very much against you (you've seen the stats, right?), so if i were you, I'd be happy with any profit.

Take off the time constraints and buy and sell when you want, and (obviously to me) you can time your buys and sells as you wish, without any outside influences. True, stamp is payable, but it's 99.5% profit for me, and 0.5% contribution to the government.

Booked a carnival cruise 30 mins ago - first time with them. Round the UK, 12 nights, about a grand. Usually (in non covid times) we try to go far north on the longest day - this time, it looks like north scotland (mid june, so just before longest day).

Re the ccl price .... i'm not selling yet, a lot more to go i think now bookings have been confirmed as rocketing (it doesn't matter that it's currently effectively bust and propped up by saudi, a few more bookings and it will be incredibly profitable). Plus the saudis will buy the whole lot at some stage (great, more cruises to the middle east).

As a third of revenue is from on board sales, the passenger occupancy rate becomes key
