I just noticed what happened on Friday jan-mar . The US markets closed early at about 6 pm our time and Dow cloaed at 34900 as shown under "monitor" on ADVFN and my IG chart confirms it . But after hours it slumped until futures closed for weekend and , as you say , it would be up by at least 400 from that level :)

I'm looking at Wall Street pre trading up 450 it's normally pretty accurate for when it opens. all the worlds markets are on the IG Index App.

I may be wrong but I think that futures trading in stocks does not start until 11am or 11.30am . Dow only up about 220 now although DOw often performs differently to Russell or S&P which is a pain when trading Russell as I do most days as so volatile .

There are only two liners left I think. QM being one of them. The rest are Cruise ships.

It normally lags behind, you will have a better idea at 2.30pm our time, Wall Street pre market is up 400 so would expect CCL state side to move up only my opinion

So, you haven't and can't see any liners on the coast, there is every reason why stocks like CCL are likely to move up, COVID is not over but we are on top of it, despite the non stop negative nonsense from certain parts of the media. Pfizer have their tablet drug before the FDA for approval, it will be one of many as the months go that will put paid to COVID. These times will offer many short and long term investment opportunities when you have days like last Friday a monumental overreaction from the markets. Not, unusual, great days for market makers and traders who get it right. Happy to sit tight over the next few months, as I said earlier I'm now not trading but investing lol

anyone know the relationship between CCL in USA and CCL in UK and which is normally lead market ? Ratio is not 1:1 . CCL in USA did bounce 70 cents from uk closing time which is one reason it has recovered here .

might not be carnival liners but the main point is that covid is far from over and no
reason stccks like CCL should take off any time soon . Anyway , I have no binoculars! :)

just a bounce I suspect as share seems to be overvalued based on the awful fundamentals . But markets do not always behave as we expect and it need to break1280
and start filling the gap. Good stock for trading only .

He could of course quoted the South African scientist who says the new variant is Mild, good luck if he is short, my view hasn't changed, my prediction is it will be back to £15 by Christmas and £18+ by March. Got plenty of time.

At the present imo it is difficult to see Cruise Businesses and Airlines and any International Travel related companies --- doing very well whilst Omicron is around

The action taken by Israel to close its country to foreigners should tell us something about how serious this Omicron threat is

Israel was way out in front as a country in protecting its people by vaccinations

It also is a country that is highly advanced in medicine/technology and what buywell would say as being 'ahead of the covid curve '

In South Africa Omicron cases have recently quadrupled in the last two weeks with at 2 days ago — South Africa having achieved 27% vaccination rate

" Dozens of top scientists in South Africa are closely tracking a new coronavirus variant, which harbours a large number of mutations, with cases reportedly almost quadrupling over a two week period."

The Delta strain only doubled every two weeks

This is why buywell agrees with those scientists that say Omicron is twice as transmissible as original Delta strain which was flown in over a period of two weeks from India remember --- when boris delayed banning flights too long and the WHO dillied and dallied in declaring Delta a VOC.


The maths:

Delta hit circa 50,000 cases a day roughly 16 weeks after initial case numbers were being quoted as circa 200 cases a day

Omicron has the capability due to its vaccine escape properties to hit 50,000 cases in 8 weeks once the critical initial 200 cases a day number has been hit

That is why it is so important to impose bans like Israel has done so as to buy time for the new vaccines to be made and distributed

If we go the same way as with Delta --- and current vaccines offer less than 50% efficacy against Omicron

16 weeks after 200 cases have been hit ---- without total lockdowns ---- the majority of the entire population will have Omicron

50K cases will become 200k cases after week 10
200K cases will become 800k cases after week 12
800k cases will become 3.2M cases after week 14
3.2M cases will become 12.8M cases after week 16

By week 17 going into week 18 after that critical 200 cases has been hit the majority of the UK could be infected unless severe mitigation measures are taken now

However this is not he worst thing that might happen unfortunately imo --- buywell is looking into another possibility that could spring via Omicron

It has rung bells due to the way these mutations have evolved by the swapping of various bits of the DNA of different types/strains

For now Masks do not cut it and you don't even need to wear them in pubs or restaurants

boris please speak to the Israelis and do so today


We need to buy 6 months minimum to get prepared to fight Omicron with the right vaccines
