Still think a Birthday card with 10 Card shares would be a winner at a tenner.

Great news if we all follow UKNEONBOY advise , and buy the director a congratulations on your share purchase card , it would boast the bottom line.

It being a limited edition card it may be slightly more premium , but still under a pound .

I feel this thread is a bit suspect on the sell side, why would you be in this thread if you didn't hold stock or have intention of taking position.

I feel the pain of all holders, if the share price gets back to 100p, which I think and hope is feasible then I can get out of the position I am pretty much locked in, as I had buys either side before/after crash.

What I don't get is why such a big reaction on 10th, if people were aware of past years, its as though something major new occurred; apart from a less optimistic trade update & special cut, I don't know what people were expecting. You can have poor performing companies release statements that sound like pipe dreams, this share price is sentiment driven; the current P/E forecasts and div offer good value.

It just depends when peoples sentiment changes, I do not believe this is dying business, Amazon started as a book store, when a business is under pressure it simply needs to change its business model and strategy (hence the strategy review). Everything else that everyone is saying negative is mainly speculative at this point, I am not best pleased about the volatility, but like buffet says if you buy a house and someone offers you less tomorrow, you don't sell you wait till you get a different seller or the environment changes.

Apparently, the Chairman of Greggs has just bought a vegan sausage roll from one of his own stores.

Not at all relevant to CARD - but just wanted to get in on the trend on this thread for highlighting "irrelevant activities of directors of unrelated companies".....

Good call.
I'm loving this as a strong short.
I see 30p (£100m M/C) coming pretty quickly - and just wait until the normal divi is axed and they break banking covenants- the end .

Minerve , decided the same 12 months ago . Nothings seems to be changing.
Website got a few good "silly" gift ideas. Not sure how its being marketed though to gain max traction. Maybe they need to advertise it more instore.

The problem with Card Factory - amongst other things - is that it relies on the attraction of other shops around it to get its footfall. In other words: no one is going to make a special journey from home to buy a card from Card Factory and then to return back home - it will be one of the destinations in a list of shops. If the other list of shops is narrowing in choice or closing then this affects Card Factory. Busy people will make trips to local convenience stores rather than town centres. Parking is quick, do it in the evening or on the way home from work, and whilst they are getting their chocolate, crisps, coffee, milk and loaf of bread they will buy the greetings card. The main competition for Card Factory comes from the supermarkets and the convenience stores IMO.

To be honest, I neither understand this market enough nor have the desire to look further to be certain of my opinion. It is just a general gut feeling based on a week or two of ad hoc/piecemeal research.

Card Factory will have their niche locations which will deliver good returns if they manage their estate well. Growth for growth sake could put a lead weight on what could still be a very good income generating stock.

well Stevie at least they have hxxps://www.gettingpersonal.co.uk/ which is somewhat broad - not just cards. What this company needs is an injection of trust from upper management. Buying 10k shares is nothing.
