10/2/2020 10:41 | Great posts this morning. | hazl
10/2/2020 10:38 | Invesco still have over 10%. I will be interested to see what they do. | hazl
10/2/2020 10:09 | May be some validity to some of MW's comments and he's relying on readers taking his word on the figures. Trouble is he's been crying wolf a few times too many and if he was hoping his cynically timed release was going to hit the share price then he's in for a miserable Monday morning. | winsome
10/2/2020 10:03 | Yes with a 30% return on equity (Stockopedia, I haven't calculated latest) they should not be sitting on cash or even paying it out. Concentrated portfolio in terms of results though, hard to dismiss MW on that. | edmondj
10/2/2020 10:01 | @winsome True. If the cash balance would have been higher, they would have questioned were the money comes from, or they would have said that the business seems to deteriorate. MW fairy tales are meritless, they don't analise pro and con, they only look for the cons and if they cant find them they make them up. | vstock
10/2/2020 10:01 | they simply don't understand how this business works at all. | ozzmosiz
10/2/2020 09:51 | Not sure if I completely understand MW's latest statement. They say Burford only had a cash position of $176m. When I look at Burford's H1 Accounts (page 20), it clearly states "Cash and Cash Equivalents" of $232.467m. And it also states "Cash Management Investments" of $43.810m. If I had the two up I get $276.3m. FYI - Cash Management Investments is cash Burford has invested in a listed investment fund and fixed income securities (see page 36 of H1 2019 Accounts). | adnan17
10/2/2020 09:37 | @ onjohn good luck with that. These are an unpleasant share to own, it has to be more than just MW endless drivel and the Woodford curse. I need to stop buying uk listed shares, a route to poverty. | porsche1945
10/2/2020 08:57 | Could have predicted much of what MW said this morning in a cynically timed release to attempt to drive share price down before BUR could respond. Looks like the share price taking no notice after MW's recent fake news on other companies such as Luckin Coffee. He seems to have trouble understanding that BUR continually reinvest their cash proceeds into new cases. If they were sitting on $600m cash right now, as I read he thinks they should be, then I'd be worried investment has stalled. Muppet! | winsome
10/2/2020 08:55 | mf - that would of course be highly illegal (though I wouldn't put it past mw). The silence re. a new listing in n the TU may also be an indication that management are working towards an alternative end game. | time_traveller
10/2/2020 08:52 | A bid at £16 will secure my shares | onjohn
10/2/2020 08:52 | I think either the US listing or an MBO is inevitable. In some ways, failing to get a US listing, price dropping to £5, pE backed MBO at £7/8 level on basis that "market consistently fails to recognise value in business" may be most likely outcome. And I wouldn't be surprised if MW and private equity had been discussing this from the start. | mad foetus
10/2/2020 08:41 | Well, I smell MBO - Sizeable director buys at much higher prices, but nothing here. An uncharacteristic trading update to ensure transparency beforehand. Maybe... | time_traveller
10/2/2020 08:35 | LazG can't always get the bottom. This is a hold for me and wait for the madness to finish | ozzmosiz
10/2/2020 08:34 | LazG can't always get the bottom. This is a hold for me and wait for the madness to finish | ozzmosiz
10/2/2020 08:24 | I guess I should have waited a bit longer before buying. Today would have been a better day for buying. | lazg
10/2/2020 08:13 | At what again? | ozzmosiz
10/2/2020 07:35 | MW at it again | bogman1
09/2/2020 20:23 | Rar have IC stated a new view on BUR? Cheers | onup
09/2/2020 20:22 | Funnily enough, Hardman have arranged for me to meet directors of both AAZ and BUR. At the first meeting, AAZ shares were about 70p and BUR around £18. I couldn't have chosen between them at the time but it turned out the Azerbaijani gold miner was lower risk and higher reward. You have to laugh. Fantastically well run business. | mad foetus
09/2/2020 19:36 | O/T guys. Take a look at AAZ,RNS due debit free this month. JORC figures due,LOM (Life of Mine) Only 114 Million shares out there. The BoD holds over 40% and Gold as a safe heaven. NAI and please DYOR etc. It is the largest holding in my portfolio. Apologies in advance re O/T. GLA. | callmebwana
09/2/2020 18:58 | Rar which ITs take your fancy? | onup
09/2/2020 18:52 | FCA's Short Selling Spreadsheet for 7.2.20. BUR increased to 1.75% from 1.11% (31.1.20). And the share price goes down, it's like clockwork... Yes the IC seems like the Daily Mirror, they seem to forget how they loved BUR at one time not so long back. I've been looking for new investments, well Fundsmith has given approx 24% a year since 2014, I'm not ramping...i nearly sold them to buy BUR when they went stratospheric for a time, glad i didn't. I have a list of about 30 shares and screwing my mind over which is best, I looked at Inv. Trusts and low and behold all of my picks were under one umbrella or the next so i will buy a bunch of them. I shall keep holding BUR unless all i can afford to eat is turnips, trusting that 30k or so will be buy me some in Singapore on Thames. | rar100
