I see MW target NMC finished 28% up today after issuing a possible offer statement due to a couple of approaches including one from KKR:-

There's people's hard earned money in here. Why are you constantly doing your best to create fear in a share you say you don't have any interest in? What's in it for you?

They are dragging it above £6 close now because they know what it means if they cant.

The question I keep asking myself is, can I buy better for cheaper, elsewhere, but it keeps coming back to BUR. Quality/value will out.

It's correct that they don't have control over the timing of the cases. However, given the huge ramp up in new cases over the past couple of years, you would now expect earnings to be coming through thick and fast by now. Hopefully this is just a timing issue and we need to be patient - the January does look promising.

In terms of the 'quantity versus quality', it is my impression (nothing more than that) that they are prioritising growth, rather than cherry picking the best cases, in the way a smaller litigation funder might. One thing in particular struck me was when they mentioned in the call that they would prefer not to do buybacks (even though this might make sense financially) because their main priority is to grow the business and get new clients on board. They also mentioned if they didn't provide the capital, then a competitor would, which strikes me as a bit of a land grab mindset.

I agree ROIC and IRR still look impressive. Overall I am still bullish on BUR, just slightly less so than before the update

Oh dear.... mummy won't be sleeping well in her grave then. It's just that she sent me a telepathic message to say the shorters need to close up by 430 given a probable Burford rebuttal RNS re MW tomorrow pre open

No it needs to bounce off £6 support 3 times!! before it "could" then rise back up to £7.

Does that mean a close above £6 is excellent news such that it will be back to £7 by the end of the week?

Remember if it closes below £6.00 then it will hit £5.00

A close below £6 is very bad news for this.

Oh dear...

Currently Tanking into the close.

Dudishes,

Not sure of your point,

I never read the Mirror, lost all faith in IC, never had any faith in the FCA

What a misnomer FCA is, they appear to have no authority, and I fail to see Financial Conduct showing much.

If it's my comment on the press, sorry but they do seem to take the shorters point of view and do not question the validity.

Whilst this situation goes on, good companies will suffer and investors will be conned. There is no balance. IMO

riverman,

Couple of points:

They have NO control over the timing of the conclusion of cases - so profits are and will always be lumpy. They had an excellent previous H1 and post-period January suggests this H1 will be strong. On the basis that it takes on ave 18 months for cases to conclude these results have no bearing on 'the huge level of investment' in the period. 'Collapse' is thus a highly emotive term to use.

Neither you or MW have any way of substantiating the remark about 'quantity versus quality'? To your knowledge, which cases of higher quality have they decided not to pursue?

What we do know, however, is that of the cases that they have pursued and have concluded they have a very high win ratio and a Return on Invested Capital of 93% and IRR of 31%: Looks pretty high quality to me.
