9655 of 9840 BURFORD CAPITAL :::::::::::::::::::::::::: Litigation Funding - BUR

I always post a marker in every single prediction I make online whether its a buy or sell.

Right now Bur is what £8.30 mid.

In a years time it will still be around £8.30 mid.

Thats it.

It's over.

Trust has gone ......FOREVER.

The share price is closer to fair value.

In future, everyone will look at this "FORENSICALLY"

And it will be covered in small circular bruises the size of a 50p piece where the BARGEPOLE has been poking it.

Its going to go to sleep in this range.

Meanwhile,It makes lots of money. It transfers it to another place in the way we do, when we sell one share and buy another. All the time it's investments and portfolio get bigger. It is not a complex business model and those who pretend to find it so are just being obtuse in the hope they wind others up.On Petersen, the bye laws of the company states how any price was to be calculated as the amount payable by the government to the shareholders if the shares were ever appropriated. The only ambiguity is whether the "base price" is the value of the shares when they were appropriated or the day before the country says it will appropriate them. If the latter, then the entirety of BUR's claim is $9bn, but they have sold down some of it, and Bogart himself has said that it isn't a figure investors should cling to

Berenberg's recent assessment, post MW:Burford Capital shares worth more than double current levels, says Berenberg:Https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/amp/news/901137

Burford's returns are heavily concentrated in a low number of investments, says Berenberg, pointing to a large proportion of the company's value driven by the Petersen case, which so far has been one spectacularly successful investment. "We estimate that around 70% of net realized gains from the second half of 2016 to the first half of 2019 were generated by just two investments, Petersen and Teinver," the brokerage notes, adding that this concentration indicates the potential for volatile returns over short time periods. Berenberg downgrades its rating on the stock to hold from buy with a target price of 810 pence. (Berenberg)

"Maril explained that Burford uses two methodologies to assess the Petersen case. One of them is based on the portions of the trial they sell in the secondary market and which, according to the sales made so far, gives them a base return of around US $ 1700 million. 'The second formula they use,' Maril explained, 'is the one that YPF draws in its own bylaws, which says that in the event that there is management control, majority shareholders, YPF must compensate minorities in a certain way.'

From that formula Burford obtains a valuation of between US $ 6000 and US $ 9000, whose variation is due to the date taken as a reference: that of the moment in which Argentina anticipated its plans to nationalize YPF (January 2012) or that of the moment in which he effectively took control of the company (April 2012).

The valuation presented by Burford contemplates only the calculation of Petersen's returns. The other plaintiff, Eton, presented his own valuation when he published his claim and was US $ 495 million. 'If you add the Eton thing to Petersen, it gives you a gross minimum floor of the two demands of US $ 2200 million and a ceiling of US $ 9500 million,' Maril said." source: -hxxps://www.lanacion.com.ar/economia/ypf-el-fondo-burford-asegura-puede-reclamarle-nid2295964-

"However, Burford's most important and potentially lucrative investment is the current lawsuit against Argentina and YPF. Burford acquired 70% of the rights to a possible favorable decision in the case of YPF, for which he paid USD 15 million plus costs. Burford estimates that the value of the YPF case will fluctuate between USD 1,700 million and USD 9,000 million following a presentation distributed to investors in October. By June 30, 2019, Burford had already sold 28.75% of its YPF litigation rights to institutional investors for $ 236 million." -source: hxxps://www.infobae.com/economia/2019/11/02/cual-es-la-empresa-que-mejor-aprovecha-y-lucra-con-los-errores-de-los-gobiernos-argentinos/-

This time of year is historically poor for the share price because between July and Feb BUR provide no meaningful updates. Investors in all companies buy on news or the promise of good news. They buy in advance of the next update in the hope they'll beat the crowd. Few people want to buy when they think the company will go silent for next 7 months as there is no incentive to.

I don't expect detailed quarterly reports but a general summary and trading update between Full and Interims is not a big ask. Didn't they commit to better communication with shareholders?

Bogart is keen to play down that $9bn figure by the way, but that is the starting point. Argentina have no motivation to settle though as NY rate of judgement interest is less than Argentina's in the capital markets. Go figure!

The biggest burden on international courts is focused on the lawsuit against our country for the expropriation of YPF in 2012; Burford Capital's economic claim - which bought the litigation rights of the Petersen Group - could reach US $ 9,000 million.
