So I'm a bull here but I can't ignore the serious volume and thinking is this forward selling ahead of a placing ? Or someone needing some cash ? If it's a placing then maybe it's to fund something positive ? Uncertain times don't help of course ... anyway time will tell , am I brave Enough to buy more ... hmmm

I thought there was a substantive point being made here.If ,and it's a big if,their only reservation is the 'concentrated' nature of the net realised gains, then there's nothing to worry about. The only reason,as had been said by winsome and others here,is that they've sold a portion of the claims at an enormous profit so have to include them. That,of course, has a knock-on effect on the unrealised gains portion. And this, somehow ,is a risk? Burford has some really big winners! And that panics people! This is Alice in Wonderland stuff. The day to day business is about picking winners.Actually, the bread-and-butter ones settle. It's about portfolio financing. And then it's also about the 'home runs',such as Petersen.

Chimers, how is your Bango investment going - you know that one you were crowing about a couple of years ago? How did it go?

Every seasoned investor on here surely knows broker estimates are not worth taking seriously. I don't go by any of them. I suspect two different Berenberg analysts came up with the two differing price targets. Twelve months from now one of them will look completely stupid. So there is a least one idiot there. Not a good impression.

13.03.2018 their target price was 1690 p , Ber. was covering this company for long time , should have known the business up and down , suddenly something has become the issue : earnings too concentrated !!!!!!

Seems analysts are still out of their depth on this share and what it's worth.

Berenberg back in July stated 2,070.00p, Reiterates in August and now downgraded to 810 at a Hold.

Was looking to get back in here but honestly wondering what news will help apart from US listing or earning, which are end of Q1 20.

9655 of 9840 BURFORD CAPITAL :::::::::::::::::::::::::: Litigation Funding - BUR

I always post a marker in every single prediction I make online whether its a buy or sell.

Right now Bur is what £8.30 mid.

In a years time it will still be around £8.30 mid.

Thats it.

It's over.

Trust has gone ......FOREVER.

The share price is closer to fair value.

In future, everyone will look at this "FORENSICALLY"

And it will be covered in small circular bruises the size of a 50p piece where the BARGEPOLE has been poking it.

Its going to go to sleep in this range.

The last time I looked the golden rule was "Filter Chimers, he is rude and always loses money".Fair enough to have an opinion but you don't seem to know anything about BUR, which makes your views somewhat pointless as this is a relatively knowledgeable board.

The whole unrealised gains issue is a red herring. It would be an issue if the timeframe for ultimate realisations was long and reliability poor. However, avg timeframe for an investment is 20 months and they are reliably realising the majority of those gains during each subsequent financial year. I.E. time to realisation is 12 to 18 months. You can easily see that from the excess cash generated on top of net income. Most recent year was nearly $100m excess cash. I assume that covers 2017 UG's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but working back over further years the same applies.

I'd like BUR to elaborate that in their next FY report as it isn't obvious to the avg investor.

MF - not so sure about that. They generated a lot of cash from secondary market sales - I suspect that post-MW that market is harder to access.
