Muddy was alerted to the situation because Bentham (american litigation co) always had lumpy results, sometimes good sometimes not so good but BURFORD had a perfect performance every single time.
The never had any setbacks it was too good to be true.
Thats what inspired them to look closer.

It's unlikely to be an all the way to zero You can dispute the value of Patterson but it and a few others are still hard assets and there will be other latent gains So there's likely to be a good intrinsic floor to the share price I bought into sold out of and then bought back into Juridica - my final investment made a decent return as the company went into run off

Simple fact is 1400p down to 400p on an article by muddywaters who have a bias/opened a short as they published is silly to say the least.

Clear bias and a £2billion wipe from the market cap on claims that are not proven, 20-30% drop would have been more realistic and that is pushing it.

As always fear will drop prices to insane levels 90% of the time will recover very quickly once the panic subsides, basic market mechanics fear and greed.

@knowing. dont think amyone in their right mind would take any notice of a cxxp broker like Jefferies, Muddy a serious outfit, they get most things bang on, forensic, they and Kerrisdale took Woodfords Prothena down, tbis is a gonna. Might be a week or a month but Iv watched the video, Bur is banged to rights.

Isn't there a whole host of potential legal liabilities that are avoided by being CEO and not being on the board And in retrospect not having ceo and cfo on the board of an internally managed company is a huge red flag

Agree - simple rebuttal just will not do at this stage Need a massive corporate governance overhaul along those lines Question is whether the market will rerate them as being more akin to an investment trust to be valued on a NAV basis (not that this necessarily makes it easier to value )

Jefferies analyst Julian Roberts said that the report contains nothing new about Burford’s liquidity or governance. In terms of the calculation of returns, “where we would question the short argument at first sight, though, is on the idea that Burford marks investment values aggressively: we think the evidence of individual disclosed investments points the other way.” The analyst reiterated a buy rating.
