Nothing wrong with discouraging the likes of Quindell and Globo from listing.

Has anyone found out what company Muddy Waters were talking about?

That's a best practise that precisely nobody has followed - not changing auditors in 10 years is normal (may not be right - but not unusual)

A refreshingly candid assessment of the vagaries of being a listed company in modern times. These drum beating shorters are slowly but surely killing the desire of some companies to list on the stock exchange. Why not stay private.Thats not to deny successes in exposing the likes of Quindell and Globo which actually give credibility to these outfits that act as self proclaimed 'vigilantes' in securities markets for,of course, purely ultraistic reasons.Today's markets are nothing but feral.Burfords comments this morning are well made but it's difficult to see how these orchestrated concert shorting attacks can be stopped anymore than orchestrated ramping of stocks can be stopped. What will be curtailed is companies wishing to list.

Do I remember that we'll find out which company was shorted at 8am ?
Or I guess subscribers to muddywaters will.

Audit rotation for plcs should be every 5 years. EY on the ticket since 2010 is not best practice. Pretty much every dodgy AIM stock in the last 20 years would be audited by a ‘name’.

mad - devious thinking on your part. A "feint" in fencing parlance.

Much more liquidity much bigger sanctions for rigging markets. Nothing wrong with going short the problem is when people act in concert. What happened yesterday affected multiple companies and was new and damaging to the reputation of AIM

SWF isn’t interested in the sp, only the profit it is making from its investment which will be large. And only 25% is so far invested. It is in for the long term

Anyone got an explanation to why the SWF isn't moving in on BUR shares in a big way? Or any of the other big backers? If they were happy to move in at £18.50p why not at £11?

Pointless aiming at short sellers , very murky waters would be a good description to try and litigate against them to much nudge , wink etc , proving a case would be very very difficult , presumably they are just firing a shot across the bows .

the test of their words will be engaging the case and finding and punishing the culprits, as was the statement of their intent. Never a good idea to take on Lawyers at anything, unless of course you are innocent. i wonder weather the manipulators are perceived innocent or greedy. we will find out in due course !!!

(Half an hour ago, I was watching 'Billions' - just what they would be doing.)

Exactly Edmond. If I were them I'd be loading up and taking advantage - also initiating a share buyback.

Is it possible this might be being instigated from Argentina?

stoxx - completely agree.

I should perhaps not be ironic at this difficult time :-)

In terms of litigation, BUR must be one of the best placed in the world to consider this in an objetive manner. Share buybacks are IMHO an obvious and straightforward response.
