Shares of litigation finance firm Burford Capital BUR, -9.28% slumped as much as 12% after Muddy Waters Research said it went short. Muddy Waters alleged the company has "egregiously misrepresented its ROIC and IRRs, as well as the state of its overall business." Ahead of the Muddy Waters' announcement, Burford put out a statement decrying short sellers and said it uses the same IFRS accounting that is used widely across the financial services industry.

@ bbmsi... - that is quite possible of course. It occurred to me while reading the report that much of the information could only have come from insiders or ex-insiders.

Despite probable NDAs, the previous finance officers may well have ulterior motives and loosened up.
